RPM_Shout - About
Brought to you “By Collectors for Collectors” RPM Records was founded by brand owner and label manager Mark Stratford in 1991. The main label specialises in reissues from the 1960s to mid 1970's, principally from Uk music archives. Sub label Shout Records (in partnership with Solar Radio DJ Clive Richardson) covers Classic Soul / R&B from the US, with RPM International (in partnership with Mojo and Arts Desk music journalist Kieron Tyler) focussing on non Uk / non US originated recordings, across the same period. The RPM Records group is produced and managed by Another Planet Music.
The many essentials include first ever issues like Joe Meek’s space fantasy "I Hear A New World", Mark Wirtz complete "A Teenage Opera" and American band The Aerovon’s late 1960’s masterpiece
"Resurrection". The Velvet Tinmine and Glitterbest compilations redefined the 1970’s, celebrating the Junkshop Glam phenomenon. The Dream Babes series pinned down Britain’s 1960’s girl scene – it wasn’t just Cilla,Dusty and Sandie. Jamie Hewlet (Tank Girl, Gorillaz) said “most of the music I’m listening to is on RPM : Stavely Makepeace, Mike Sarne, Joe Meek, The Shangri-las, Mark Wirtz, Brett
Smiley and Crushed Butler”.
