This series represents RPMs foray into what In The Basement magazine calls Real Soul and R&B, primarily from the 60s, but with some crossover into the '50s and '70s.

SHOUT! was chosen as an imprint name from its connotations with the Isley's hit, also the Shout label subsidiary of Bert Bern's Bang label, and last but not least because label co-chief Clive Richardson used to publish a Soul magazine in the '70s called...Shout. The logo design is somewhere between the original Shout and Minit label designs.
