The Quick were one of the pre-eminent bands of the early LA punk scene. featuring ex- and future members of The Three O'clock, Weirdos, Cruzados, and The Rembrants, they were discovered and produced by the legendary hustler Kim Fowley, who got them a deal with Mercury Records, like his other charges The Runaways....disillusioned by the inactivity of the label, The Quick left to find pastures new. The Quick were the band who re-opened the Whiskey-A-Go-Go as a live venue, where they played on bills with Television,T he Ramones, The Runaways, The Zeros and even Van Halen!! Beck, Norman Blake, Redd Kross, Alan McGee, Michael Stipe, and Pat Smear were and are among their many fans. This first-ever CD collection consists of the demos produced by Kim Fowley which landed them their deal, and post album recordings produced by Beck's father David Campbell.....the real sound of LA punkpop mutating into the Paisley Underground.....a must, and another Rev-ola classic! This album has never been released on CD anywhere! And includes songs covered By The Dickies and Redd Kross. Produced by Kim Fowley and David Campbell (Beck's dad!) this album has a large celebrity fanbase but will be a favourite amongst us all! |
