“My album, Varieté, was an album that was always meant to be on vinyl. It is one of my favourite albums and I am thrilled at last that it is going to be heard the way it was meant to be” – (Marc Almond, 2016)
Marc Almond’s unique artistic sensibility has sustained a thirty year plus chart career. For many of those years, until the recent resurgence of demand for the format, there was simply no vinyl edition of some of his landmark albums.
Marc Almond absolutely loves the vinyl LP format and has sanctioned a very special one-off vinyl pressing of one of his and his fans’, favourite albums.
When Marc Almond released Varieté in June 2010, it was his first studio album of original self-written material for 10 years! Varieté is both a dramatic celebration in song of the thwarted glamour of the fag-end of the showbusiness of yesteryear and a brave and revealing body of autobiographical songs.
This collector’s edition, limited to just 500 copies, will be a double vinyl album with a gatefold sleeve and an alternative front cover image to the original release. It will include the seven bonus acoustic compositions that were exclusive to the original limited edition double-CD. Also included is a special fold out promotional poster featuring an artwork from the original album release.
This special edition is uniquely available for pre-order through Cherry Red Records to ensure that Marc’s core fans are first in line to own a copy of a rare and exclusive collectable that celebrates one of Marc’s finest bodies of work.
