Perfection Plus (The Best Of Charge)
Formed in the squat punk communities of London in the late 70s, Charge, led by the inimitable Stu P Idiot, stood out from the crowd by incorporating elements of sexual deviance, high camp, glam and baroque punk, alongside an engaging and often surreal sense of humour. They were one of London's best live acts of the period, cultivating an impressive fanbase, and were especially popular in mainland Europe where they regularly toured. This new Cherry Red release sees them immortalised on CD for the first time, featuring all their studio recordings for the Kamera label, including the much cherished album Perfection, and three Independent Top 10 hits, notably the hugely amusing 'Fashion'. The deluxe package also features the band's extremely rare debut single 'King's Cross' for the Test Pressing imprint. It was compiled as a tribute to the late vocalist with contributions from the musicians and friends who knew him, who have also provided exclusive photos and memorabilia. Record Collector - 4 stars "a band that refuses to be pigeonholed", "a fitting tribute to a unique talent."

This Is The A.L.F
The album of the movement, the Animal Liberation Front, smashed open the doors of animal abuse and changed things forever. This compilation album contains some of the many groups from across the punk spectrum that supports the A.L.F. in the crusade to totally abolish animal abuse. 'This is the A.L.F.' - the album, attracted mass media attention - most unfavourable, which in fact helped the album become so successful that two versions were released. Digitally remastered from source material, both versions are included in this project, presented in a deluxe digipack containing both all the original artwork from Richard Allen Turner, new updated material and full lyric booklet. Calling on Youth
The Outsiders were Wimbledon's official entry into the 1977 UK punk menagerie. The line-up of Adrian Borland (vocals, guitar) (who later went on to form seminal post-punkers The Sound), Bob Lawrence (bass), and Adrian Janes (aka Jan - drums) had in fact been playing together for a few years before punk took off. Citing the Velvet Underground as their main influence, The Outsiders was a classic example of an existing band that, through the explosion of punk, managed to elevate themselves to a higher level, there by securing more gigs and even getting records released. The band's music is rooted in classic rock and roll, but served with adequate amounts of speed and attitude to fully warrant the use of the punk rock tag.

Quite uncommonly for the times, The Outsiders’ first release was not a 7”, but an album. Financed in large by Adrian Borland’s parents, the LP "Calling On Youth” was released in 1,000 copies on The Outsiders’ own Raw Edge label in May of 1977 (some of the album’s recordings date back to 1976). The music is produced as well as mixed by the band and the cover is designed by Adrian Borland. The LP has the honour of being the very first DIY-released punk album by a UK group. Musically, it is a sprawling affair with everything from acoustic takes to harder edged punk rock.

Then finally in November came the group’s first 7” and The Outsiders transformation into a 100% punk band was now in place. There is no acoustic guitars or extended solos in ear-sight on the "One To Infinity” 7” EP. This cataclysmically great and underrated EP (included here) contains four razor cuts deploying a catchy buzzsaw punk sound in the vein of The Saints. By all factors, this 4-tracker is a vintage 1977 punk record.
This is the first time this record has been released on CD and comes with full endorsement from the Borland estate and new extensive notes by Brittle Heaven’s Rients Bootsma as well as being re-mastered with the help of Robert Borland.

Press:-

The Outsiders’ raw–boned debut album, Calling On Youth, appeared in May 1977 and boasts the distinction of, being, in essence, the first independently-released punk album, unsurprisingly both LP and band fell foul of music press punk Puritanism.” Record Collector, June 2012
