Downtown Tonight - Racing Cars

Downtown Tonight
Originally released in 1976, this fantastic album contains the massive hit "They Shoot Horses Don't They". A killer album of its time and originally released on Chyrsalis, the vinyl pressing carried a six minute version of "They Shoot Horses" which, until now, has never been featured on a reissue making it a must for true fans. Singer Morty still has an incarnation of Racing Cars which regularly tour the UK and sell albums in Europe under the guise of 'Morty and Racing Cars'.

Time For Another / No Strings EXPANDED EDITION
Ace was formed in December 1972 in Sheffield as 'Ace Flash and the Dynamos', but this name was quickly abbreviated to just Ace. The members were assembled from various other professional bands, and were all competent musicians.

Carrack and Comer had previously played with Warm Dust, and King with Mighty Baby, whose antecedents were the 1960s band The Action. Before the recording of their debut album, Five-A-Side, ex-Bees Make Honey drummer Fran Byrne replaced Witherington. The single "How Long?" (a song about one of the members leaving for another group) was taken from this record, and was a significant chart success, achieving a Top 20 place in the UK Singles Chart, and reaching number three in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

These reissues of the long out of print albums come with a new updated booklet and notes by Michael Heatley and contains unreleased on CD BBC sessions from the time.

Overnight Sensation: Country Hits 1974-1984
Mickey Gilley placed 42 singles on the Billboard country (and occasionally, Hot 100) charts between 1974 and 1987. Overall in his career, that spanned 15 years of chart success, Gilley has had 17 #1 hits on the Country charts.

“Overnight Sensation” compiles, for the first time on UK CD, all the major hits for the Playboy and Epic labels. It’s an anthology that is long overdue

Let The Picture Paint Itself / Jewel Of The South
Released on 17/10/11. Rodney Crowell was one of the most gifted songwriters of the Texas honky-tonk school of the 1970's and 80's. Let The Picture Paint Itself is an impressive record. A collection of Nashville heavy hitters were involved, including Trisha Yearwood and Patty Loveless helping out on backing vocals.

Jewel Of The South rocks and rolls with abandon, from the  40s-tinged big band sound of The Ballad Of Possum Potez to the soaring title track. The record contained a line-up of guitarists that anyone would die for John Jorgenson (once of the Desert Rose Band and already establishing himself as an Elton John sideman), Briton Albert Lee (another graduate of the Hot Band, and musical director for the Everly Brothers), Steuart Smith (later to join the Eagles family), former Cherry Bomb Richard Bennett, and Nashville stalwarts Billy Joe Walker Jr and Kenny Vaughan. When it comes to backing vocals, Vince Gill on The Ladder Of Love (co-written with Lee Roy Parnell), Raul Malo of the Mavericks on the Harlan Howard/Buck Owens number Storm Of Love , Claudia Church on Just Say Yes , and Kim Richey on Please Remember Me
