Ain't Nothing But A Party (The 12" Anthology) - Phil Fearon & Galaxy

Ain't Nothing But A Party (The 12" Anthology)

PLEASE NOTE THIS CD IS NOT RELEASED UNTIL THE 25TH NOVEMBER - THIS IS A PRE-ORDER & THE CD WILL NOT BE SENT OUT UNTIL THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE

"Ain’t Nothing But A Party" is the first-ever comprehensive compilation of 12" singles from 80s chart mainstays, post-disco synth soul pioneers and perennial floor fillers Phil Fearon and Galaxy.

Compiled with Phil’s blessing, this collection brings together the definitive extended versions of all his UK single releases issued on the Ensign label from 1982 to 1987. No less than five Top Twenty hits – ‘Dancing Tight’, ‘Wait Until Tonight (My Love)’, ‘What Do I Do?’, ‘Everybody’s Laughing’ and ‘I Can Prove It’ – feature alongside Phil’s cover of the Showstoppers’ ‘Ain’t Nothing But A House Party’ – an early UK House classic produced by Stock Aitken Waterman.

Digitally remastered direct from master tapes archived at Abbey Road, this collection features many mixes unavailable since their original release and available on CD for the first time. Showcasing the innovative post-disco synth-soul sound of Phil’s FJR Studios, it also boasts mix credits for the influential M & M team of John Morales and the late Sergio Munzibai, John Luongo and PWL’s Phil Harding and Pete Hammond.

The extensive booklet also features additional photos, a fully illustrated discography, lyrics and new sleeve notes written especially for this release.

Galaxy was the brainchild of former Kandidate member Phil Fearon and launched in 1982 with the club favourite ‘Head Over Heels’. Top Five chart success followed with the classics ‘Dancing Tight’ and ‘What Do I Do?’, all generated from Phil’s own home studio. A virtual one-man ‘hit factory’ in his own right, Phil went on to record at PWL with Stock Aitken Waterman before moving into song-writing and production work for other artists, notably Pepsi & Shirlie’s 1987 smash ‘Heartache’. In recent years, he has made a long-overdue return to performing and now makes regular live appearances.

"Ain’t Nothing But A Party" is a perfect party album, essential for all 80s aficionados and the latest in the long line of popular PWL-related reissues on Cherry Pop.

La Toya Jackson
When you hear the name La Toya Jackson all sorts of thoughts spring to mind. Her nude appearances in Playboy, shopping with exotic snakes draped around her shoulders, tell-all books, psychic hotlines and all manner of bizarre stories reported in the tabloid newspapers of the late 1980s and early 90s. Scandal and intrigue have always surrounded La Toya, from her radical transformation from the Jackson's shy sister into a worldwide sex symbol, to her recent re-emergence as a key supporter of her brother Michael during his 2005 trial. The last thing that probably springs into most people's minds is her music. There's a lot more to Grammy Award winning La Toya than just her body-she has a lot of soul too. In this, her 1980 debut album, listen out for ‘Night Time Lover', produced by her brother Michael; the exquisite ‘My Love Has Passed You By', featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica; ‘Are You Ready', written by Billy Ocean; and the lead single ‘If You Feel The Funk'. The first, ever British release of La Toya Jackson's self-titled album, over 25 years after it was first released in America and Europe in 1980. Including contributions from her brother Michael, sister Janet, Stevie Wonder and Billy Ocean, this is the first release from Cherry Red Records new imprint Cherry Pop, committed to rediscovering the best 80's pop albums and artists. Dreams Interrupted
Glaxo Babies were the fore-runners of a wave of Bristol music that spawned The Pop Group, Rip Rig & Panic, Maximum Joy & Pigbag, who all became household names as the jagged edged angst movement quickly gathered respect throughout the world. A firm favourite with John Peel, the Glaxo's soon notched up their first session following on from the highly acclaimed first release - the 12" This your Life EP which included the classic "Who Killed Bruce Lee". Always underrated but never dismissed, they fought back with the blistering Christine Keeler 45 often sighted as the bands finest moment. This collection spans their career, illustrating just how unique and original the Glaxos were, and how their relevance seems ever present with today's jagged edged sounds. Our Price: £9.95

Touch Me

"Touch Me", the classic 1986 debut album from perennial pop icon and pin-up Samantha Fox, is given a Deluxe Edition reissue on Cherry Pop.

"Touch Me" features four UK hit singles: the international smash "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" (#3 UK and #4 US), "Do Ya Do Ya (Wanna Please Me)" (#10 UK), "Hold On Tight" and "I’m All You Need". Immediately establishing Samantha’s signature pop-rock sound, the album was certified gold on its original release, reaching #17 in the UK and #24 in the US.
Digitally remastered direct from the master tapes, this Deluxe Edition brings together the original 10-track album with an incredible 27 bonus tracks across two CDs.

Presented together with Samantha’s later work and on CD for the very first time are her early recordings for Lamborghini Records with her first band SFX - "Rockin’ With My Radio", "Aim To Win" and "Holding". Bonus tracks also include rare B-sides and many sought-after 12" mixes, the majority of which have never before been released on CD.
Compiled with personal input from Samantha herself, the extensive booklet also features reversible cover art, many additional photos, a fully illustrated discography and recording data, full lyrics and new sleeve notes written especially for this release.

The only British female artist to score three Top Ten hits on both sides of the Atlantic in the 1980s, Samantha Fox made her name as the nation’s favourite Page Three girl before launching an enviable music career. The anthemic "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" became a global chart-topper in 1986 and was followed by a succession of hits, including several collaborations with both the legendary Stock Aitken Waterman and US hip-hop pioneers Full Force. Samantha remains a household name, with a new album planned for 2012 and live dates across Europe.

"Touch Me" coincides with accompanying Deluxe Editions of Sam’s other three Jive albums: 1987’s "Samantha Fox", 1989’s "I Wanna Have Some Fun" and 1991’s "Just One Night", and follows many other popular PWL-related reissues on Cherry Pop from artists such as Mel & Kim, Sinitta, Hazell Dean, Sonia, Boy Krazy, Brother Beyond, Pepsi & Shirlie and O’chi Brown.

Drama V: Expanded Edition
· The Detroit-based Dramatics (originally formed in 1962) had hit their stride by the time they recorded DRAMA V, their sixth overall album (and second for ABC Records) in 1975, a follow-up to LP, "The Dramatic Jackpot.”
· The quintet (which had experienced a number of personnel changes over the preceding years) had established themselves in the premier league of black male vocal groups thanks to early ‘70s hits such as the classics, ‘Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get’ and ‘In The Rain’ for Volt Records.
· Working with producer Don Davis, songwriter Tony Hester and key musician/songwriter Michael Henderson – the team who had been responsible for their breakthrough Volt hits – among others, The Dramatics (L.J. Reynolds, Willie Ford, Ron Banks, Larry "Squirrell” Demps and Lenny Mayes) scored a US Top 10 R&B charted album with DRAMA V, thanks to standout tracks such as ‘Just Shopping (Not Buying Anything),’ ‘Dramatic Theme/Treat Me Like A Man’ (both penned by Henderson) and ‘I Was The Life Of The Party.’
· Making its worldwide CD debut, this SoulMusic Records’ reissue includes one bonus track, the Top 10 US R&B single version of ‘You’re Fooling You’ along with liner notes by renowned US writer Quentin Harrison with 2013 quotes from Michael Henderson.
