Time And Tide 2CD - Basia

Time And Tide 2CD
"Time And Tide”, Basia’s debut album after leaving Matt Bianco, was originally released in 1987. The album sold nearly 2 million copies in the US and did brisk business in Japan and across Europe. Now, for the first time, it has been given the deluxe edition treatment to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
This 2 CD collection features 30 tracks including the original 11 song configuration plus 11 tracks that make their appearance on CD for the very first time anywhere.
The bonus material on this collection features all the single versions, non-album b-sides, remixes and alternate versions that were released across the 7 singles pulled from the album.
The album includes the international hit, "Time And Tide” (US #26, UK #64), which has been a radio staple on Adult Contemporary radio in the US since it was released in 1988.
Basia defined the smooth jazz radio format in the US in the late 80s and early 90s. She became one of their signature artists and went on to sell over 6 million albums.
The CD booklet contains comprehensive sleeve notes including new contributions from Basia, producer Danny White, mix engineer Phil Harding and remixer Justin Strauss.

All Over The Place

Released on 20/09/10. All Over the Place was The Bangles' first full length album for Columbia Records. Released in 1984, the sound is lively and shows more Bangles collaboration. Although the album was not a commercial success, it gave them the chance to perform as an opening act for Cyndi Lauper and Huey Lewis And The News and brought the group to the attention of Prince, who would write Manic Monday , their first hit.

Two singles were released from this album, Hero Takes a Fall , which peaked outside the U.K. Top 40, and Going Down to Liverpool , written by Kimberley Rew of Katrina And The Waves, which won the Bangles the BPI Award, the British equivalent of the Grammy. The video for Going Down To Liverpool features Leonard Nimoy, who plays the part of the band's chauffeur.

Different Light
Different Light is an album by The Bangles released in January 1986. It is their best known album, with a Top 5 hit single and a No. 1 hit. The album s Top 40 sound was a departure from their earlier 60s style sound. This was the first album in which bassist Michael Steele sings lead vocals on some tracks.

Three of five singles were written by someone other than the Bangles: Manic Monday (written by Prince under the pseudonym Christopher), If She Knew What
She Wants and Walk Like An Egyptian . The other two singles were Following and Walking Down Your Street .

This reissue contains a whole bonus disc of rare b-sides some appearing for the first time on CD and the booklet is packed with rare covers and a note by Mojo’s Daryl Easlea.

La Toya Jackson
When you hear the name La Toya Jackson all sorts of thoughts spring to mind. Her nude appearances in Playboy, shopping with exotic snakes draped around her shoulders, tell-all books, psychic hotlines and all manner of bizarre stories reported in the tabloid newspapers of the late 1980s and early 90s. Scandal and intrigue have always surrounded La Toya, from her radical transformation from the Jackson's shy sister into a worldwide sex symbol, to her recent re-emergence as a key supporter of her brother Michael during his 2005 trial. The last thing that probably springs into most people's minds is her music. There's a lot more to Grammy Award winning La Toya than just her body-she has a lot of soul too. In this, her 1980 debut album, listen out for ‘Night Time Lover', produced by her brother Michael; the exquisite ‘My Love Has Passed You By', featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica; ‘Are You Ready', written by Billy Ocean; and the lead single ‘If You Feel The Funk'. The first, ever British release of La Toya Jackson's self-titled album, over 25 years after it was first released in America and Europe in 1980. Including contributions from her brother Michael, sister Janet, Stevie Wonder and Billy Ocean, this is the first release from Cherry Red Records new imprint Cherry Pop, committed to rediscovering the best 80's pop albums and artists. Despite Straight Lines - Very Best Of
Released 27/11/08. At long last, 23 years after its original release, Marilyn's one and only album "Despite Straight Lines" is finally reissued. This is the first time on CD for this album. The album features Marilyn's four best selling singles including the number 4 smash "Calling Your Name". The album has 8 bonus tracks that include 2 mixes of "Calling Your Name" 12" promo mixes of "Cry And Be Free" (Gospel and Streisand styles) and the extended version of "Baby U Left Me In The Cold".

The CD booklet includes a UK Discography with all the accompanying sleeves and a biography of Marilyn's career. Marilyn emerged from the New Romantic movement in London at the end of the 1970's. As a face on the scene he forged a strong friendship with Boy George. An appearance in a Eurythmics video brought Marilyn extensive press attention and he soon signed a deal with Phonogram. Success was to follow with a string of self and co-written tunes but all too soon problems set in and Marilyn's career was over prematurely. His songwriting and artistic style means he'll always enjoy the status of being an 80's icon
