After a break of several years from recording in her own right, (during which time she guested on albums by Vangelis, Wishbone Ash, Jon Anderson & Steve Howe) Claire Hamill returned to the music scene with this innovative album that saw contributions from Gary Numan, Dick Morrisey and many more. "Touchpaper" featured such memorable songs as 'First Night in New York', 'Denmark', 'The Moon is a Powerful Lover' and 'Ultra Violet Light'. The record would later be an influence on the Ambient Dance scene a decade later and ranks as one of Claire's most unique works.

Love In The Afternoon eclec2070 Recently hailed by Record Collector magazine as the finest vocalist you've never heard, Claire Hamill has enjoyed a long and varied career as one of Britain's finest female singer songwriters. Signing to Island Records in 1971 at the age of 17, she made a series of wonderful albums in the 1970's. The singer Eva Cassidy covered Claire's "You Take My Breath Away" and Claire's influence extends to artists such as Kate Bush. In the 1980's Claire's music embraced the ambient movement and following work with artists such as Jon & Vangelis, Claire recorded the wonderful album Voices, a record featuring solely vocal sounds that topped the UK New Age Chart and was the soundtrack to BBC TVs Domesday series. She followed this in 1988 with the equally excellent song based Love In The Afternoon, featuring the classic Trees .

She then signed to Kink's founder Ray Davies' Konk label recording two more classic albums. In the late 70's she collaborated with Wishbone Ash, Steve Howe & Jon & Vangelis before recording a series of albums for Beggar's Banquet collaborating with Gary Numan on one track. In 1987 the "Voices" album was the soundtrack to a successful BBC TV series and reached the top of the new age chart. This was followed by the release of "Love in the Afternoon". In the 1990's Claire returned to recording with albums "Lost & the Lovers" and "Summer" and Songstress Eva Cassidy covered Claire's "You Take My Breath Away" gaining her a new audience. Cited by Kate Bush as an influence, this compilation precedes the reissuing of Claire's work by Esoteric Recordings.
