ESOTERIC FEBRUARY 2013 RELEASES

HEAVEN - BRASS ROCK 1

Heaven, a jazz rock group from Portsmouth, burst forth onto the British rock scene in 1970 when they appeared at the legendary Isle of Wight festival sharing a bill with The Who, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix et al. Making a stunning debut, the band (now managed by festival organiser Rikki Farr), soon secured a recording deal with CBS Records who signed the band for a large advance. The resulting double album 'Brass Rock 1' appeared in 1971, adorned in a lavish fold-out sleeve. Well received critically, the album failed to achieve the expected success and Heaven soon disbanded, leaving behind a fine example of classic jazz rock. Officially released on CD for the first time, this Esoteric Recordings reissue is digitally re-mastered from the original master tapes and restores the artwork of the album in full.

HARDIN & YORK - THE WORLDS SMALLEST BIG BAND

Keyboard player and vocalist Eddie Hardin and drummer Pete York had first played together in the second incarnation of the Spencer Davis Group, following Steve Winwood's departure to form Traffic. In 1969 Hardin & York struck out on their own to form a highly unique duo utilising powerful Hammond Organ work and percussion to record a series of wonderful albums in the Progressive / Jazz Rock vein. 'The World's Smallest Big Band' was their second album and featured recordings made at Olympic Studios and material recorded live at De Lane Lea studios in front of a small audience. A popular attraction in Europe, the record remains a noted highlight of their career. This Esoteric Recordings reissue includes eight bonus tracks!

GREG LAKE - SONGS OF A LIFETIME

THE NEW STUDIO ALBUM FROM KING CRIMSON AND EMERSON LAKE & PALMER FOUNDER GREG LAKE

Esoteric Antenna are pleased to announce the release of the new GREG LAKE album, "SONGS OF A LIFETIME”.
As a founder member of KING CRIMSON and EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, Greg has been a major creative force in music for over 40 years. In 2012 he embarked on a solo tour to perform "Songs of a Lifetime”, a unique concert experience that was conceived whilst Greg was writing his autobiography. "From time to time during the writing these songs would crop up that were in some way crucial or extremely important in the development of my career” he explains. "These were not always songs that I had written myself, but sometimes songs that had been written and performed by other artists as well. I realised that they actually represented the journey that I had shared together with the audience over all these years.”

Behind these songs there was often a story to be told and it occurred to me that the same must be true for the audience as well. It was then that I thought of the idea of doing a series of very small intimate concerts where I could perform these songs and exchange stories with the audience, in a way reliving the time when the music we shared together really became part of our identity and in a way became the backdrop to our lives, a sort of tapestry I suppose.

These recordings were taken from a selection of the shows performed on the tour”. The album is a unique record of a unique live experience from one of the legendary figures in Rock music.
