Changing States (Remastered Edition) - Keith Emerson

Changing States (Remastered Edition)

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of the 1995 solo album by KEITH EMERSON, "Changing States”.

One of his most consistent solo works, the album featured Keith on classic form on pieces such as ‘Shelter from the Rain’, ‘Another Frontier’ (originally recorded by Emerson, Lake & Palmer as ‘Changing States’), ‘Montagues and Capulets’, and possibly the definitive version of the classic ‘Abaddon’s Bolero’ recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Unavailable for many years, "Changing States” has been newly remastered and features an illustrated booklet with essay.

Trapeze - Trapeze
Field Sabbath not in Database

Formed in Wolverhampton in 1968 and signing to the Moody Blues' Threshold Records imprint, Trapeze issued this, their self-titled debut album in 1970. Teaming lead vocalist John Jones and guitarist/keyboardist Terry Rowley (both ex-members of The Montanas, famed for the hit "You've Got to Be Loved") with singer/guitarist Mel Galley [Whitesnake/Black Sabbath], bassist Glenn Hughes [Deep Purple], and drummer Dave Holland [Judas Priest] this is the only Trapeze album to boast the original line-up (Jones and Rowley returned to the Montanas soon after). Produced by Moody Blues bass player/singer/songwriter John Lodge, this long-out-of-print 14 track album is a classic period example of English prog rock, mixing pastoral whimsy, swirling psychedelia, rock guitars and pop harmonies.

Tilt
Released 15/06/09. Considered to be one of England's best drummers, and very much in demand for rock and pop records, Cozy Powell was almost legendary for a heavy-hitting style that could be made to work with many kinds of rock music, whether for the thundering pop productions helmed by Mickie Most, Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake & Powell, or even his own solo work (notably "Dance with the Devil," which was a major English hit in 1973.) Powell began his professional music career in 1965 with the Sorcerers, eventually winding up working with Jeff Beck after Beck left the Yardbirds. In 1971, Powell formed Bedlam, but eventually abandoned this project to produce singles such as "Dance with the Devil." He later formed Cozy Powell's Hammer, which broke up in 1975. After a brief sabbatical, he joined Rainbow, helping to give the band a thundering rhythm section before quitting after four years and four albums in 1980. Always in demand for the drum seat, he alternated between session work and working in a variety of bands, including the Michael Schenker Group, Whitesnake and Black Sabbath, never staying in any one band for very long. In 1996, he worked with former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green on his long-awaited comeback tour. At the time of his death on April 5, 1998, he was recuperating from a foot injury that had sidelined him from touring work with guitarist Yngvie Malmsteen. He was driving on the M4 Motorway towards Bristol when he apparently lost control of his car (due to bad weather), slamming into the center divider of the motorway. He died a few hours later in the hospital. Our Price: £9.95

The Sprocket Sessions
Released on 21/06/10. This is an Official Bootleg by Emerson, Lake & Powell, and the mid-1980s ELP-splinter group, formed when Carl Palmer was still contractually obligated to record with Asia. Live In Concert, features a rare live recording from the group's only tour in 1986, from recently discovered recordings in Greg Lake's personal archives. With Palmer's blessing Emerson and Lake recruited fellow Brit Cozy Powell to handle the drums on new material the two had written and were planning to record. Powell, whose drumming style was very powerful and considerably different than Palmer's, helped create a new sound for the progressive music written by Emerson & Lake. Live In Concert, taken from a 1986 show recorded in Lakeland, Florida and has been digitally re-mastered. Our Price: £9.95

Megaton
A thrilling, no-holds-barred, heavy rock treatment
of a clutch of riff-based but fairly commercial pop tunes,
Megaton'ssole album has plenty of admirers these days. Perhaps
this should be a rock label staple, but the LPs origins are more pop
than that with more akin to those ranks of over looked production
library classics recorded for one purpose and taking on a different
guise and importance to collectors years later. For Megaton is
the creative inspiration of vocal harmony leader Les Humphries (as in
The Les Humphries Singers, big hit makers in early 70'sGermany) and his
writing partner/right hand LHS man, Jimmy Bilsbury. Perhaps
having the likes of future Uriah Heep vocalist John Lawton in the midst
of the LHS was an inspiration, but whatever, Humphries nose for a
commercial opportunity sniffed out the Free, Led Zep hard rock/ blues
rock market and he duly delivered. A 1971 Deram release, first in
Germany, other territories later inc. South America, and the UK -where
today such a pressing can set you back over £700 ! RPM presents
it'sfirst legitimate reissue on CD.
