Jack Bruce - Silver Rails

Esoteric Antenna is proud to announce the release of the eagerly awaited new studio album by the legendary JACK BRUCE, one of the greatest popular musicians Britain has ever produced. A supremely talented instrumentalist and vocalist, eminently respected by his peers, Jack’s pioneering bass playing style has influenced successive generations of bassists, including such luminaries as Paul McCartney, Jaco Pastorius and Sting, alongside more contemporary musicians such as Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. He is also the possessor of one of the most powerful voices in modern music and a composer of some of the most original and influential music of the past forty-five years. As a songwriter he has written some of popular music’s enduring classics such as ‘Sunshine of Your Love’, ‘White Room’, ‘I Feel Free’ and ‘Theme from an Imaginary Western’.

"Silver Rails” is Jack’s first studio album in ten years, recorded at the world famous Abbey Road studios.Produced by Rob Cass, "Silver Rails” is a splendid collection of carefully crafted songs written in partnership with lyricists Pete Brown, Kip Hanrahan and Margrit Seyffer. He is joined on the album by a host of celebrated instrumentalists including Phil Manzanera, Robin Trower, Bernie Marsden, Uli Jon Roth, John Medeski, Malcolm Bruce and Cindy Blackman Santana. "Silver Rails” is the next chapter in the recorded legacy of one of popular music’s most respected innovators.

Ginger Bakers Airforce
Ginger Baker is without doubt one of the most famous Rock Drummers ever - forming and playing in the worlds first super group "Cream" with Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. This is Ginger's first official release since 1994 when he released BBM-Baker Bruce and Gary Moore. This Airforce album was originally released in 1970 a year after the demise of Cream. A real gem, the cover reads as a who's who of musicians; including Steve Winwood, Denny Laine, Rick Grech, Graham Bond, as well as being engineered by Roy Thomas Baker who went onto produce Queen. Between The Sea And The Sky
Imagine coming off the back of a defunct group, with no hits, but who have admittedly just released one of the best pop psych singles in the UK ever, and being thrown into George Martins Air Studios on a publishing/production deal and told there you are boys "make an album".

A slight license with the factual there but essentially this is what happened to Martin Briley and Brian Engel .In 1969, late of Mandrake Paddle Steamer and their classic 'Strange Walking Man', these late teens art students were given access to Air Studios and budgets for orchestras plus musicians to come up with hit singles. What they actually came up with was an almost concept album that exhibited all that had influenced them to that point, and let loose their humour and imagination. Sadly with the exception of one single ('Pale Green Vauxhall Driving Man') released under the name Prowler, a couple of years after the event, the recordings lay on the shelf, and are released for the first time now.

Briley played with GreAenslade and then as session guitarist with the Hunter Ronson band, Meatloaf and Ellen Foley. Three solo albums and a US top 40 hit 'Salt In My Tears' followed. He continues as a songwriter for international artists and backing vocalist.

Matching Mole:2cd Expanded Edition
Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of a Deluxe 2CD Expanded edition of Matching Mole’s self-titled debut album. Formed in 1971, Matching Mole featured former SOFT MACHINE drummer ROBERT WYATT, former CARAVAN keyboard player DAVE SINCLAIR, guitarist PHIL MILLER, bassist BILL McCORMICK with guest keyboard player DAVE MacRAE. Recorded between December 1971 and February 1972, "MATCHING MOLE” was a wonderful debut that included tracks such as ‘O Caroline’, ‘Signed Curtain’ and ‘Part of the Dance’. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly re-mastered from the original master tapes and is expanded to include five previously unreleased studio session alternate takes, the single versions of ‘O Caroline’ and ‘Signed Curtain’, along with two BBC Radio One sessions from 1972. The booklet restores all original artwork and includes and essay by Sid Smith.

Press:-

The self titled debut, at times close to a Wyatt solo effort, veers from the nakedly honest break-up song 'O Caroline' to instrumental jazz-rock, via the pataphysical and postmodern 'Signed Curtain'. (4/5*)
