Strange fruit
Strange Fruit' is a great undiscovered work of the acoustic rock / classic rock genres, cited by some as a minor masterpiece. In the late 60's Gary Farr made the transition from leader of R&B outfit The T-Bones to a noted singer-songwriter. Recording an album for Marmalade Records, Farr then signed to CBS Records in 1970, recording this sole album for the label. Sessions featured contributions from RICHARD THOMPSON on lead guitar and leading lights of the underground MIGHTY BABY. Unavailable on CD for many years, 'Strange Fruit' is a record made by an often overlooked singer-songwriter made available once more by Esoteric Recordings and is certain to appeal to all who adore acoustic music both melancholic and uplifting. The reissue also features the first ever CD appearance of the single edit of 'Revolution of the Season'. Our Price: £10.95

Photos Of Ghosts Remastered And Expanded Edition
Released on 29/03/10. Premiata Forneria Marconi, better known in English speaking countries as P.F.M. , were arguably the finest Italian Progressive rock band of the 1970 s and certainly one of the most well known. A successful act in their home land, they came to international attention when they signed to EMERSON, LAKE and PALMER s label MANTICORE in 1973, recording the album Photos Of Ghosts the same year. With English lyrics, some penned by ELP and King Crimson lyricist Pete Sinfield (who also produced the album), this edition of PFM s debut album for Manticore has been re-mastered from the analogue tapes and includes previously unreleased six bonus tracks of early mixes from the album sessions, a lavishly illustrated booklet, new essay and fully restored artwork. The Going’s Easy
NEW EDITION OF THE CLASSIC SECOND ALBUM BY THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
NEWLY REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL HARVEST RECORDS’ MASTER TAPES
WITH TWO RARE BONUS TRACKS
THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH were one of the more stylistically original signings to EMI’s legendary Progressive label Harvest. The band was formed in 1968 and featured brothers Garth and Norman Watt-Roy (who played guitar and bass respectively), vocalist, guitarist and flautist Colin Horton-Jennings, Mick Deacon on Organ, a horn section of Dick Hanson, Tex Philpotts and Ian Aitcheson and drummer Ron Prudence. The band began to take on board more "progressive” influences, incorporating rock, jazz and acoustic music into their sound.
An impressive live act, Greatest Show on Earth released their debut album in February 1970 adorned in a startling Hipgnosis designed sleeve. "The Going’s Easy”, released in November 1970, was an equally competent work that included the excellent rock track ‘Borderline’ and the acoustic ‘Magic Woman Touch’ (later covered by The Hollies). Upon the band’s demise Mike Deacon joined Vinegar Joe (fronted by Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer), Garth Watt-Roy went on to perform and record with Fuzzy Duck. Norman Watt-Roy and John Turnball later became founder members of Ian Dury’s backing group, The Blockheads.
This Esoteric Recordings reissue features two bonus tracks, has been newly re-mastered from the original Harvest master tapes and features a booklet that fully restores all original album artwork with a new essay.
