Ginhouse - Ginhouse

Ginhouse
NEWLY REMASTERED OFFICIAL EDITION OF THE COLLECTABLE 1971 ALBUM BY PROGRESSIVE TRIO GINHOUSE
BOOKLET WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & ESSAY
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly remastered edition of the highly collectable 1971 self-titled album by GINHOUSE.
Hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne, GINHOUSE were a short lived Progressive Rock trio featuring GEOFF SHARKEY (Lead Guitar & Vocals), STEWART BURLINSON (Bass Guitar & Vocals) and DAVE WHITTAKER (Drums).
This power trio played a highly imaginative and powerful form of rock, coming to the attention of B&C Records in 1970. The band recorded their only album at Abbey Road studios with producer Anders Henriksson (also producer of the legendary Quatermass).
The resulting record featured excellent original compositions such as ‘Tyne God’, ‘The Journey’, ‘The House’ and ‘Sun in a Bottle’, along with a highly effective reworking of The Beatles’ ‘And I Love Her’. Disbanding soon after the release of their only album, the music of GINHOUSE is now highly sought after by collectors of early 70s Progressive Rock.
This Esoteric Recordings release has been newly remastered from the original masters and includes an illustrated booklet and a new essay.

Arena
Released in March 1971, 'Arena' was the second and final album by the group Marsupilami. Initially a folk-based group the band evolved into one of the most adventurous, if unsung, bands of the early 1970's, producing two stunningly original Mellotron soaked albums. Featuring a line-up of brothers Fred and Leary Hasson (lead vocals and harmonica and keyboards respectively), Dave Laverock (guitar), Richard Lathan Hicks (bass), Jessica Stanley Clarke (flute, vocals) and Mike Fouracre (drums), Marsupilami drew early comparisons to such contemporaries as Quintessence and Gryphon, although in truth the group were far more experimental and powerful. Produced by Peter Bardens (soon to form CAMEL), the CD release of 'Arena' will be welcomed by the legions of progressive rock afficianados. With this 24-bit remastered edition from ESOTERIC RECORDINGS, the conceptual 'Arena' has never sounded better.

I Spider
I Spider' is truly a lost classic of the Progressive era. Originally released by Polydor Records in 1970, the album was influenced by the experiments of groups such as King Crimson, Gentle GianT et al, but was more than a mere clone of these bands. The group evolved from an excellent blues influenced band who released three albums for Deram, who then recruited Keyboard player and writer Dave Lawson and recorded their final album. The musicianship on the album was excellent and Keyboard player Dave Lawson's compositions were groundbreaking and memorable. The group soon evolved into Samurai (whose eponymous album is also released by Esoteric this month). This Esoteric reissue is re-mastered from the original master tapes and features two bonus tracks recorded live in Sweden in 1971, a booklet with previously unseen photographs and an interview with Dave Lawson. Live ‘n’ Kickin’
Released 25/08/08. Esoteric Recordings are proud to release this classic rock album from 1974, the only live album by the amazing power trio, West Bruce & Laing. Forming in 1972 the band brought together Cream bassist, vocalist and writer Jack Bruce with Leslie West and Corky Laing from the American band Mountain.

Together WBL recorded three albums, all of which demonstrated the group's power and dexterity. Following the release of their debut, 'Why Doncha?' for CBS records in Europe, the band moved to RSO Records. This powerful live album captures WBL at their peak and includes stunning versions of 'Play With Fire', Cream's 'Politician' and 'Powerhouse Sod'. Alas, the band only lasted some eighteen months before breaking apart. This Esoteric release, remastered from the original tapes, follows on the heels of the label's critically acclaimed 6 CD set Jack Bruce retrospective 'Can You Follow?' and is indeed a welcome one.
