Velvet Mountain 2CD - Cochise

Velvet Mountain 2CD
NEW REMASTERED 2 CD ANTHOLOGY OF THE COMPLETE UNITED ARTISTS RECORDINGS BY COCHISE
REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES
BOOKLET WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & ESSAY
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly remastered anthology featuring the entire recorded output by the classic British band COCHISE.
Cochise are unsung heroes of British rock of the early 70s. Formed in 1969, the band featured the talents of legendary Pedal Steel Guitar player B.J. Cole, along with Stewart Brown (Vocals, Guitar), Mick Grabham (Lead guitar), Rick Wills (Bass) and John "Willie” Wilson (Drums). The band signed to the UK division of United Artists in 1970, releasing their self-titled debut (with legendary sleeve designed by Hipgnosis) the same year. Over the next two years they recorded two further albums, "Swallow Tales” (which featured guest Steve Marriott) and "So Far” (featuring Roy Otemro on drums). Cochise produced fine music, with influences ranging from rock to Americana, and failed to make a commercial impact at the time. The calibre of the musicians came to be realised following the demise of the band, with B.J. Cole becoming a famed session musician, Mick Grabham joining Procol Harum, Rick Wills performing with Roxy Music, Small Faces and David Gilmour before joining Foreigner and Willie Wilson joining Quiver and later performing with David Gilmour.
This anthology has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and features an illustrated booklet with new essay.

Patti Labelle- Expanded Edition

With a career spanning more than 4 decades and numerous appearances in the charts and the music award circuit, Grammy Hall Of Fame inductee, Patti LaBelle sealed her fate as one of the great American Divas.

Patti LaBelle started singing at church and later formed Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles, later know as LaBelle. Patti and her group enjoyed many chart hits during their 15 years together including their number one, gold selling single Lady Marmalade. 1977 brought the split of LaBelle and with that Patti embarked on her solo career with Epic Records. Her self-titled, debut solo album, produced by the legendary David Rubinson, soared to #16 in the R&B charts and gained a top 100 spot in the pop charts reaching #62.

Patti LaBelle’s incredible vocal talent is easily evident on the track You Are My Friend, Cowritten by Patti and dedicated to her son, a song which she still performs to this day and is a firm fan favourite. Patti Labelle also features her top 40 R&B single, the string-laden upbeat, Joy To Have Your Love and the funk guitar driven cover of, Funky Music (Sho Nuff Turn’s Me On).

Time For Another / No Strings EXPANDED EDITION
Ace was formed in December 1972 in Sheffield as 'Ace Flash and the Dynamos', but this name was quickly abbreviated to just Ace. The members were assembled from various other professional bands, and were all competent musicians.

Carrack and Comer had previously played with Warm Dust, and King with Mighty Baby, whose antecedents were the 1960s band The Action. Before the recording of their debut album, Five-A-Side, ex-Bees Make Honey drummer Fran Byrne replaced Witherington. The single "How Long?" (a song about one of the members leaving for another group) was taken from this record, and was a significant chart success, achieving a Top 20 place in the UK Singles Chart, and reaching number three in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

These reissues of the long out of print albums come with a new updated booklet and notes by Michael Heatley and contains unreleased on CD BBC sessions from the time.

Overnight Sensation: Country Hits 1974-1984
Mickey Gilley placed 42 singles on the Billboard country (and occasionally, Hot 100) charts between 1974 and 1987. He is also one of a select number of country music legends to have been awarded a star on the “Hollywood Walk Of Fame” – an honour that he shares with his most famous cousin Jerry Lee Lewis.  He was also inducted into the Delta Music Museum Hall of Fame in Ferriday, Louisiana.

Overall in his career, that spanned 15 years of chart success, Gilley has had 17 #1 hits on the Country charts.

“Overnight Sensation” compiles, for the first time on UK CD, all the major hits for the Playboy and Epic labels. It’s an anthology that is long overdue
