Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce a series of remastered and expanded reissues of the CLIMAX BLUES BAND catalogue, including this newly expanded edition of "TIGHTLY KNIT”. Formed in Stafford in 1968 by Colin Cooper, the band (originally known as the CLIMAX CHICAGO BLUES BAND) recorded their fourth album in 1971 with a line up of COLIN COOPER (Vocals, Saxophones, Harmonica), PETE HAYCOCK (Guitar, Vocals), ARTHUR WOOD (Keyboards), DEREK HOLT (Bass, Vocals) and GEORGE NEWSOME (Drums).
This Esoteric Recordings release has been newly remastered and features three previously unreleased live recordings. The reissue includes a lavishly illustrated booklet that fully restores the original album artwork and a new essay.

Two Quid Deal
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to release a newly re-mastered edition of the third album by legendary Ladbroke Grove underground act Skin Alley, Two Quid Deal.Formed in 1969, Skin Alley were part of the infamous Clearwater stable that included fellow acts such as Hawkwind, High Tide and Trees. Skin Alley’s infectious fusion of jazz and rock was suited to the time and the band became a regular attraction on the underground festival and concert circuit.Signing to CBS records in the autumn of 1969, the band recorded two albums for the label and underwent a change to their line- up before departing cbs and appearing at the 1971 Glastonbury Fayre. Soon after the band signed to transatlantic records and recorded their third album at Rockfield studios with producer fritz fryer. Arguably their finest effort, two quid deal includes the classic sun music (recorded in a different version for the album Glastonbury Fayre ), Nick’s Seven, Skin Valley Serenarge & Graveyard Shuffle. This reissue is re-mastered from the original tapes, restores all of the original album artwork & includes two bonus tracks. Our Price: £10.95

The Battle Of North West Six
Keef Hartley came to prominence as a member of the british R&B group the artwoods before joining John Mayall'sBluesbreakers in 1967. He contributed to the album crusade before leaving in 1968 to form the first line-up of his own band. He recorded his first album, Halfbreed (also re- released this month) for Decca'sDeram label in March 1969. Regarded as a classic of the fusion of rock, jazz and blues, Hartley went one better later in the year by changing the lineup of his band to include gifted guitarist, vocalist and writer Miller Anderson. This new band recorded the wonderful battle of north west six for decca later that year, around the same time they performed at the legendary Woodstock Festival. Unavailable for many years, Esoteric Recordings are pleased to reissue the album with liner notes by Keef Hartley. Our Price: £10.95

Seventy Second Brave

He contributed to the album 'Crusade' before leaving in 1968 to form the first line-up of his own band. He recorded a series of classic albums for Decca's Deram label. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to complete their reissuing of Keef's Deram catalogue with this newly remastered release of his 1972 album 'Seventy Second Brave'. Featuring the last incarnation of his band, Keef would record his final album for Deram the following year under his own name. Turn It Over
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to release the second album by the legendary jazz / rock / fusion outfit Tony Williams Lifetime. The group was founded by former Miles Davis drummer Tony Williams in 1969 out of his desire to fuse the influences of modern jazz and rock music.

Recruiting legendary British guitarist John McLaughlin and organist Larry Young, Williams recorded the album Emergency!. It was a stunning and seminal work that divided critics in both jazz and rock but is now rightly regarded as being a groundbreaking work. In 1970 legendary bassist & vocalist Jack Bruce joined the group to record the outstanding Turn It Over. Far ahead of itstime, the album was to influence future fusion groups.
