Faster Than The Speed Of Light - Arthur Brown & Vincent Crane

Faster Than The Speed Of Light
One of the great overlooked albums of the 1970s, Faster Than the Speed of Light was the result of a collaboration between legendary Crazy World & Kingdom Come visionary Arthur Brown and his former Crazy World colleague (and Atomic Rooster leader) Vincent Crane. The album was recorded for the German Innovative Communication label at a time when Brown was also collaborating with German Synthesiser genius Klaus Schulze (assuming the guise of RICHARDWAHNFRIED) on the album Time Actor , also released by Esoteric Recordings this month. The resulting record was a unique fusion of Brown s amazing vocals and eccentric musical visions and Crane’s innovative keyboard playing and arrangement ideas. This newly re-mastered reissue restores the original album artwork and includes a new essay.

The View from the Edge
Released 18/05/09. The View from the Edge is about the rolke of percussion in modern music and is a sequel to el's previous Varese edition, The Complete Works of Edgard Varese Volume 1 (ACMEM125CD). An important restoration of the composer's earliest recordings, the edition was greeted by great critical enthusiasm and sold especially healthily on export.

Varese also has a strong base in America, mostly by virtue of the association with Frank Zappa, who for years championed the work of this genius who today is regarded now as "The Father Of Electronic Music”; a man that has been described as the Leonardo da Vinci of modern music

‘Arcana’ and ‘Ionisation’ are the composer's key works; two of the most important of the twentieth century. Leonard Bernstein's historic seventeen minute Arcana with The New York Philharmonic is amongst the rarest Varese recordings The American Percussion Society's vigorous recording of ‘Ionisation’ has been inexplicably out of print for five decades

The Oliver Messiaen pieces are his first official recordings ever, dating from 1946 & 1947, and orginally released on 78 by Pathe. Both are beautifully performed by a young Yvonne Loriod.

Complete Works
One of the founding fathers of modern music Edgard Varese, was fifty years ago experimenting with sound collage and sampling that are commonplace in today¹s popular music. Amongst the composers who claimed him to be an influence were Harrison Birtwistle, Pierre Boulez, John Cage, Morton Feldman, Luigi Nono, Karlheinz Stockhausen and a teenage Frank Zappa with his profound effect on the latter so much so that it can be heard throughout Zappa's work from the Mothers Of Invention onwards. "The Complete Works Volume 1" is the exact same record that turned Frank Zappa on! The recordings are savage and beautiful and far ahead of their time; they have never previously been released on compact disc. Our Price: £9.95
