Banco - Banco

Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, better known in English speaking countries as Banco, were one of the finest Italian Progressive rock band s of the 1970 s and along with compatriot s P.F.M. were one of the better known Italian groups.

A successful act in their homeland, they came to international attention when they signed to Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s label Manticore in 1975. Their first album for the label, Banco was a fine work and featured reworked material with English vocals that had originally featured on their earlier Italian albums.

This new edition of the album has been newly re-mastered and marks the albums British debut on CD and continues the comprehensive series of releases of the classic Manticore catalogue.

The World’s Smallest Big Band
Keyboard player and vocalist Eddie Hardin and drummer Pete York had first played together in the second incarnation of the Spencer Davis Group, following Steve Winwood's departure to form Traffic. In 1969 Hardin & York struck out on their own to form a highly unique duo utilising powerful Hammond Organ work and percussion to record a series of wonderful albums in the Progressive / Jazz Rock vein. 'The World's Smallest Big Band' was their second album and featured recordings made at Olympic Studios and material recorded live at De Lane Lea studios in front of a small audience. The Alchemist
Released on 29/03/10. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of the classic 1973 Progressive rock album The Alchemist by Home. The band featured a line up of Mick Stubbs (guitar, piano, lead vocals), Laurie Wisefield (lead guitar, vocals), Cliff Williams (bass, vocals) and Mick Cook (drums) and had recorded two previous albums in a more conventional style before recording an album cited by many as a lost classic of the Progressive genre. Although critically acclaimed, the album failed to sell in quantities it deserved and Home disbanded the following year. With the addition of guest Jimmy Anderson on Mellotron and Synthesiser, the conceptual work also brought the guitar playing of Laurie Wisefield to the fore, eventually leading to his joining WISHBONEASH soon after the demise of Home Our Price: £10.95
