Live Music from the Twilight Zone - Wigwam

Live Music from the Twilight Zone
Released 22/02/10. Esoteric are pleased to continue their series of CD reissues of the catalogue of Finnish Progressive group Wigwam with their classic 1975 double live album Live Music From The Twilight Zone. Formed in Helsinki in 1969, the band featured the talents of British Keyboard player and vocalist Jim Pembroke, Jukka Gustavson (keyboards, vocals), Pekka Pohjola (bass, violin, keyboards) and Ronnie Osterberg (drums). In late 1974, following the release of the album Being (also released by Esoteric this month), the band were augmented by the arrival of guitarist Pekka Rechardt. Soon after a series of concerts in Finland were recorded by Love Records to comprise Wigwam's first live album. The recordings demonstrated the diversity of the band and the excellent musicianship of its members. A particular stand out track was a fifteen minute version of Jim Pembroke's Grass for Blades, previously recorded under the pseudonym Hot Thumbs O'Reilly. Soon after these recordings both Gustavson and Pohjola departed, leaving this album as their final statement with Wigwam.

The Alchemist
Released on 29/03/10. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of the classic 1973 Progressive rock album The Alchemist by Home. The band featured a line up of Mick Stubbs (guitar, piano, lead vocals), Laurie Wisefield (lead guitar, vocals), Cliff Williams (bass, vocals) and Mick Cook (drums) and had recorded two previous albums in a more conventional style before recording an album cited by many as a lost classic of the Progressive genre. Although critically acclaimed, the album failed to sell in quantities it deserved and Home disbanded the following year. With the addition of guest Jimmy Anderson on Mellotron and Synthesiser, the conceptual work also brought the guitar playing of Laurie Wisefield to the fore, eventually leading to his joining WISHBONEASH soon after the demise of Home Our Price: £10.95
