Released 27/10/08. Stomu Yamashta is a master percussionist who studied Jazz drumming at Berklee School of Jazz. In the 1970's he recorded a string of innovative albums for Island records fusing his percussion talents with jazz, electronic and classical music. 'Raindog' was a fine achievement which propelled Yamashta to a wider audience which would eventually lead to his acclaimed Go albums featuring collaborators Steve Winwood, Michael Shrieve, Klaus Schulze and Al Di Miola. Never before released on CD, this Esoteric reissue of Raindog has been re-mastered from the original master tapes and fully restores the original vinyl artwork and continues Esoteric's series of Yamashta's work for Island Records

Redux 92: Live In Japan
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a deluxe cd & dvd set featuring a newly remastered edition of the classic 1993 live album Redux 92 by Utopia and the first ever European DVD release of the concert film of the same name.Following the release of the album Pov in 1985, Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell & Willie Wilcox disbanded Utopia. Seven years later the group were coaxed out of mothballs to undertake a tour of Japan, during which the band recorded a live album at a concert in Tokyo on 10th may 1992. The concert was also captured by a video crew resulting in a live DVD release which accompanied the live album the following year. Despite a seven year hiatus, Utopia were in fine form.The album and DVD include fine renditions of classics such as the Ikon, Swing To The Right, Love In Action, Hiroshima, Caravan, One World, Fix Your Gaze and The Last Of The New Wave Riders. Stomu Yamashta is a master percussionist who studied jazz drumming at the Berklee School Of Jazz. In the 1970's he recorded a string of innovative albums for Island records which utilised the talents of such leading musicians as Hugh Hopper, Maurice Pert, Steve Winwood, Michael Shrieve and Klaus Schulze, fusing his percussion talents with jazz, electronic and classical music to creat an ambient form of music all of his own. His music has been used by the Royal Ballet. Originally released in April 1976, 'Go' is perhaps Yamashta's finest achievement and also featured collaborators Steve Winwood and Michael Shrieve along with artists such as Klaus Schulze and ex-Traffic and future Can bassist Rosko Gee. The Man From The East
Originally released in 1973 for Island Records, 'The Man from the East' was the soundtrack to a fascinating theatre-piece Yamashta presented in Paris and London in 1972. Several of these songs (‘Poker Dice', ‘One Way', ‘Memory of Hiroshima') appeared on the film soundtrack of The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) and have since attained mythical status among fans. One By One (East Wind)
Originally released in 1974 On Island Records, 'One By One' was the soundtrack to the racing movie, ‘One By One', directed by Claude du Boc and released in 1975.
