Marsupilami - Marsupilami

Marsupilami
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of Marsupilami's self titled debut album from 1970, this unique masterpiece is a much sought after collectors item originally released on the Transatlantic label. Initially a folk-based group the band evolved into one of the most adventurous, if unsung, Progressive bands of the early 1970's, producing two stunningly original albums. Featuring a line-up of brothers Fred and Leary Hasson (lead vocals and harmonica and keyboards respectively), Dave Laverock (guitar), Richard Lathan Hicks (bass), Jessica Stanley Clarke (flute, vocals) and Mike Fouracre (drums), Marsupilami drew early comparisons to such contemporaries as Quintessence and Gryphon, although in truth the group were far more experimental and powerful.

Released 28/07/08. Quintessence came from the Ladbroke Grove scene of the late 1960's. A group of musicians who became darlings of the hippy scene and the underground press along with contemporaries Hawkwind. Quintessence played a freaky form of rock music that embraced Indian music, Psychedelia and Jazz. They came to public attention in 1969 when they signed to Island records, for whom they recorded three classic albums. Our Price: £10.95

The Machine That Cried
NEWLY EDITION OF THE CLASSIC 1973 ALBUM BY STRING DRIVEN THING
REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL CHARISMA MASTER TAPES
WITH TWO BONUS TRACKS
BOOKLET WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & NEW ESSAY
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce a new edition of the classic 1973 album THE MACHINE THAT CRIED by STRING DRIVEN THING – re-mastered from the original Charisma Records master tapes.
Formed in Glasgow in 1967 around the husband and wife CHRIS ADAMS and PAULINE ADAMS and JOHN MANNION, by 1972 the band had moved from their purely folk roots and had signed to CHARISMA RECORDS, recording their self-titled album for the label with new members GRAHAM SMITH (violin) and COLIN WILSON (bass, guitar). For their 1973 album, THE MACHINE THAT CRIED, the band was expanded further by the addition of drummer BILLY FAIRLEY. This record was arguably the finest ever released by the band, featuring such classics as ‘HEARTFEEDER’, the album’s title track and ‘SOLD DOWN THE RIVER’.
This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been newly re-mastered from the original CHARISMA RECORDS master tapes and features two bonus tracks drawn from the band’s 1973 single and a booklet that fully restores all original album artwork with a new essay.
