Paradise Ballroom - Graeme Edge Band

Paradise Ballroom
Released 27/07/2009. Founder member and drummer of The Moody Blues, Graeme Edge recorded his second classic album in 1976 whilst the Moody Blues were on a sabbatical. Teaming up with Adrian and Paul Gurvitz, Edge followed on from his debut solo album Kick Off Your Muddy Boots (also released by Esoteric Recordings this month) with another fine effort, leading some to cite his two solo albums as the finest solo album by any Moody Blues member of the 1970's.

This newly remastered edition includes a bonus CD featuring 8 bonus tracks of rare single material, alternate mixes and three recordings from a BBC Radio One John Peel session from 1972. Journey joins a new re-mastered edition of Kingdom Come in the continuation of Esoteric's Arthur Brown re-mastered series. Our Price: £10.95

Harmony Of The Spheres
Released 24/11/08. CD release of Neil Ardley s wonderful album Harmony of the Spheres . Having moved to London, Ardley studied arranging and composition from 1960 to 1961. He joined the John Williams Big Band as pianist, writing both arrangements and new compositions, and from 1964 to 1970 was the director of the newly-formed New Jazz Orchestra. Neil Ardley developed dual careers in music and in writing and publishing, both of which he continued until his death on 23 February 2004. Ardley based this 1978 album on the ancient idea of the Harmony of the Spheres, the idea that each planet produces a musical note related to its orbit. The album notably features Barbara Thompson and the skilled guitar playing of John Martyn over a rich orchestral sound mixing electronic keyboards with acoustic instruments and voices. Is A Friend?
Released on 29/03/10. Is a Friend? by THE PARLOUR BAND. Issued by Decca's Deram imprint in 1972, this highly sought after release has never been issued on CD in the UK until now. Featuring Craig Anders (guitar, vocals), Mark Anders (bass, vocals), Peter Filleul (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Pix (lead vocals) and Jerry Robins (drums), The Parlour band was a melodic Progressive outfit who excelled vocally and toured extensively as support act to bands such as Caravan and Khan, but failed to make a commercial impression, despite the excellence of their work, leaving behind their sole album for Deram as their recorded legacy. Illusion
Esoteric Recordings follow the successful reissues of the first two RENAISSANCE albums with the remastered edition of this classic second and final album by ILLUSION. Featuring original RENAISSANCE members JANE RELF (Vocals), JIM McCARTY (Vocals, Guitar, Percussion), JOHN HAWKEN (Keyboards) and LOUIS CENNAMO (Bass), ILLUSION came together in 1976 following the death of original RENAISSANCE vocalist KEITH RELF (originally vocalist with The Yardbirds). Recruiting Lead Guitarist JOHN KNIGHTSBRIDGE and drummer and percussionist EDDIE McNEIL, the band assumed the name of ILLUSION (taken from the title of the second Renaissance album) and signed to Island Records.

Their debut album was an updated version of the classical and folk inspired Progressive Rock that had been explored on the first two Renaissance albums. Well received, this was followed by the release of ILLUSION in 1978. Produced by former Yardbird PAUL SAMWELL SMITH, the album was as fine as its predecessor, featuring such material as MADONNA BLUE, WINGS ACROSS THE SEA and THE REVOLUTIONARY.
