Hurrah For Malcolm Arnold - Malcolm Arnold

Hurrah For Malcolm Arnold
This superlative compilation is of the famous early works of Sir Malcolm Arnold, one of Britain's finest modern classical and film composers who passed away in September. This compilation includes the original versions of the theme from 'The Belles of St. Trinians' (the popular film series devised by Ronald Searle and starring Alistair Sim and George Cole) and (from Arnold's 'English dances'), the much loved signature tune to television's 'What the Papers Say.' It also covers Arnold's halcyon years with selections from other hit films such as 'Hobson's Choice' 'The Sound Barrier' 'The Captain's Paradise' and 'Trapeze'. This edition falls into three classifications... soundtracks, classical and pop. Malcolm Arnold is an important figure in 20th century music...when he died; the quality papers carried vast two to three page obituaries that reflected on his genius and popularity. He was a major British artist who was as important as Paul McCartney or John Barry.
