Burning Britain CRDVD62
As the Seventies drew to a close and the media declared punk dead and buried, a whole new breed of band was emerging from the gutter. Harder and faster than their 76-77 predecessors, not to mention more aggressive and political, the likes of Discharge, The Exploited and GBH were to prove not only more relevant but arguably just as influential.Burning Britain - The DVD is being released in conjunction with Ian Glasper's book 'Burning Britain - A History Of UK Punk 1980-1984' (available through Cherry Red Books), and provides a unique visual insight into some of the main players in the second wave of UK punk. Garage Punk - Nothin’ But Trash CRDVD115
Believe it or not the swingin' sixties didn't just spawn mega-pop groups like the Beatles, Stones and Monkees. The decade of love also gave birth to something far darker and dirtier, and arguably much more fun. Yes, the sixties were also responsible for producing the seeds of what would eventually become Punk Rock. The legacy of such icons as The Sonics, The 13th Floor Elevators and The Monks lives on today, and over the past two decades has produced cult sensations such as Thee Milkshakes, The Prisoners and Kaisers. A filthy hybrid of Bad Taste, Rhythm n Blues, rockabilly, surf sounds and all that is unholy, Trash Punk is one of the most enduring forces in the rock n roll underground. This DVD compilation covers nearly twenty years of Garage Punk and Sixties Style rock, AKA Trash and showcases some of the legendary characters that have emerged on the scene. Never anything less than inventive, 'Nothin But Trash' shows exactly why this debauched tradition survives to this very day - It's bloody good fun. From cult heroes The Gun Club and Link Wray to more recent contenders to the throne Saturn V and Empress of Fur, its no frills and big thrills all they way as we visit the seediest venues in the UK and spend time at 2003's Wild Weekend in Benidorm, Spain. Oi! Oi! Oi! CRDVD65
By the end of the 1970s, punk in Britain was splintering into several distinct strains, most of them quite "arty". Oi! music was an attempt to keep punk a populist, street-level phenomenon, and most of it came from the working class of South London and the cockney East End. Taking its name from the Cockney Rejects song Oi! Oi! Oi! (before which it was simply known as street-punk), Oi! was loud, brutal, and extremely simple. In essence, it was punk rock that was most at home in a rowdy pub (similar to hardcore but not quite as extreme). The Oi! movement was marked by strenuously collectivist politics and chanted, football-cheer choruses. The mid-'90s punk revival led to a renewal of interest in Oi! and many favourite early albums were reissued, with a number of new bands popping up both in the UK and overseas. The scene continues in popularity amongst it's hardcore fans. The first ever to DVD to spotlight the Oi genre, 'Oi Oi Oi' is a celebration of the Oi scene, featuring both live performance and interview footage from some of the main players in the genre including Peter And The Test Tube Babies, Sham 69, The Toy Dolls and The Exploited.SHAM 69 - “Tell Us The Truth” / THE BLOOD - “Stark Raving Normal” / ANGELIC UPSTARTS - “Liddle Towers” / BLITZ - “New Age” / SPLODGENESSABOUNDS - “Two Pints Of Lager” / PETER & THE TEST TUBE BABIES - “Transvestite” / THE TOY DOLLS - “Nellie The Elephant” / RED ALERT - “In Britain” / ONE WAY SYSTEM - “Ain't No Answers” / EXPLOITED - “Dead Cities” / THE OPPRESSED - “Government Out” / CONDEMNED 84 - “Up Yours” / BURIAL - “Our Future” / SECTION 5 - “We Won't Change” / BOISTEROUS - “Working Class Man” / ANOTHER MANS POISON - “Man Enough” / ARGY BARGY - “Vigilante” / THE WARRIORS (aka The Last Resort) - “King Of The Jungle” / BUSINESS - “Blind Justice” / THE CRACK - “Don't Just Sit There” | Tell a friend about this page

Punk On The Road CRDVD132
In 1983, a small cottage industry style video label was born specialising in releasing live footage of second-wave punk bands. Within a couple of years they had become the biggest independent producers of music home video in Europe. It was in late1982 that John and Karen Bentham were finding it increasingly hard to make a living out of managing local bands One Way System and Zanti Misfitz, despite One Way System's success in the independent charts after being signed to Anagram. Zantis Misfitz signed to Mike Stones' Clay Records and also had many disappointments trying to gain attention. Eventually the managers found a way to make a semi-professional music video for their new single, which gained the band a spot on Granada Reports. The spot did not make the band pop-stars but it did give Jettisoundz founders an idea! Starting out with a humble 5 orders for GBH live in Blackpool, it was only within a couple of years that the company had grown beyond everyone's wildest dreams! It is interesting to note that at this time there were virtually no music video labels, with the major labels reported as saying it could not be profitable. Jettisoundz, alongside Factory's Iko' and Paul Smiths Doublevision were proving them wrong and setting the pace. Lots of bands were captured during their heyday of 1983, including The Exploited, The UK Subs and Peter & the Test Tube Bbabies, with the first multi-camera release GBH ‘Live at Victoria Hall', entering the Top 5 of the newly formed video chart! Then for almost a decade they drove vans the length and breadth of the British Isles seeking out raw talent to record on videotape. What they produced was to become the first ever document of the 80s punk scene, a video spite of the low production values they had captured something that no amount of high-grade glossy video-clip-production had ever managed, the spirit of the times. Released for the first time on DVD, the original Punk On The Road has been extensively updated and enhanced, with inclusion of tracks selected from the Jettisoundz, Cherry Red and Barn End archives that bring it spitting and screaming into the 21st century. Featuring both old school and second wave bands this the definitive collection of the most revered bands in the 80s. The Exploited, Johnny Thunders, Angelic Upstarts, Vibrators, UK Subs, The Lurkers, to name but a few are featured, making this a visual who whos of the scene. With numerous classic tracks and some genuinely show stopping performances, Punk on the Road is the next best thing to actually being there should you have missed it the first time round! If you were there then this is your chance to relieve the passion that was felt at the time. This is punk at its greatest and most dangerous! The Day The Country Died - the DVD CRDVD144
As a follow up to the hugely popular book of the same name, this is the first ever DVD to spotlight the ever popular cult movement of Anarcho-Punk.A surge of popular interest in anarchism occurred during the 1970s in the UK following the birth of punk rock. However, while the early punk scene appropriated anarchist imagery mainly for its shock value, the band Crass expounded serious anarchist and pacifist ideas, and went on to become a notable influence in the burgeoning Anarcho-Punk movement. Many anarcho-punks are supporters of issues such as animal rights, feminism, the anti-war movement, the antiglobalization movement, and many other social movements. The story of the movement is told by some of the most influential performers, including; Penny Rimbaud (Crass), Colin Jerwood (Conflict), Colin & Kevin (Flux of Pink Indians) Dick Lucas (Subhumans), Zillah Minx (Rubella Ballet), Gary Buckley (Dirt), Steve Lake (Zounds), Mark Wallis (Liberty), Gee Vaucher (Crass), Dave Hyndman (Hit Parade), Rob Millar (Amebix), Rodney Relax (Alternative), Stringy & Snout (Erratics) and Gerard Evans (Flowers in the Dustbin). The interview footage is laced with both audio and visual music performance, some extremely rare, from the main performers on the scene including - Crass / Conflict / Subhumans / Liberty / Toxic Waste / Chumbawamba / Sacrilege / Inner Terrestrials & many more. The DVD is being released at the same time as an accompanying book of the same title (released by Cherry Red Books) and written by Ian Glasper, author of the very popular "Burning Britain - A History Of UK Punk 1980-1984". A full-length documentary film on the history of the Anarcho Punk movement.
