We're very proud to announce the very sought after and long overdue first reissue of Tracie's debut album 'Far From The Hurting Kind'.

Tracie began her singing career when she was discovered by Paul Weller & found success with  80s hit singles; The House That Jack Built, Give It Some Emotion & Soul's On Fire.

Tracie found fame after responding to Paul Weller's ad soliciting demo tapes from female singers between the ages of 18 and 24, for the purpose of hiring a vocalist alongside the group The Questions. Although just 17 years old, Tracie replied and sent Weller a cassette of a Phoebe Snow-inspired version of the Betty Wright hit "Shoorah Shoorah". Her tape was singled out from among the hundreds received, and shortly thereafter was invited to London for an audition. Performing old soul numbers "Band of Gold" and "Reach Out (I'll Be There)" for the audition, Tracie impressed Weller enough to win the job and become his priority signing for the Respond label.

'Far From The Hurting Kind' was originally released in 1984 on Weller's Respond Records and this is the first time the album has been available for download.

This 20 track reissue features her hits, the 10 tracks of the original album plus 10 essential bonus tracks from Tracie's catalogue.

The bonus tracks include Tracie's hit singles; The House That Jack Built #9, Give It Some Emotion #24 (7", Extended Remix and a version from a 2009 live radio session) Soul's On Fire (12" version), b/sides The Boy Hairdresser and Same Feelings (Without The Emotion). Plus Mama Never Told Me taken from the Respond Records compilation Love The Reason, a demo version of Invitation, and Nothing Happens Here But You (live 2008 radio session).

FEATURED ARTIST: SOFT MACHINE

Soft Machine were formed in 1966 by Robert Wyatt (drums, vocals), Kevin Ayers (bass, guitar, vocals), Daevid Allen (guitar) and Mike Ratledge (organ). Hailing from Canterbury, they became involved in the early UK underground, featuring prominently at the UFO Club, and subsequently other London clubs like the Speakeasy and Middle Earth, and recorded the group's first single ' Love Makes Sweet Music', as well as some demo sessions that were released several years later. Sharing the same management team as Jimi Hendrix, the band were rewarded with a support slot on the Jimi Hendrix Experience's North America tour throughout 1968. Soft Machine's first self-titled album - a psychedelic rock classic - was recorded in New York in April at the end of the first leg. Soft Machine were soon considered pioneers of British Progressive Rock & went on to make a further six albums titled as each chronologic number of the release. Another three albums would follow 'Seven' - 'Bundles' & 'Softs' (on the Harvest label) & finally 'Land Of Cockayne' in 1981.

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the long overdue release of the re-mastered edition of the classic 1975 album Bundles by the celebrated Jazz and Rock group. This album was the band's first for EMI's Harvest label and featured a line-up of Mike Ratledge (keyboards), Karl Jenkins (Oboe, Piano, Soprano Sax), John Marshall (Drums), Roy Babbington (Bass) and new member Allan Holdsworth (Guitar). An accessible collection, Bundles featured Holdsworth's considerable guitar playing talents and opened a new chapter for the band, and attracted much praise upon release. Unavailable for nearly 15 years, this Esoteric Recordings digital reissue has been re-mastered from the original tapes and fully restores the original artwork.

Their 1976 album Softs was the band s second for EMI'S Harvest label and featured a line-up of Mike Ratledge (keyboards), Karl Jenkins (Oboe, Piano, Soprano Sax), John Marshall (Drums), Roy Babbington (Bass) and new member John Etheridge (Guitar), along with saxophonist Alan Wakeman. Another accessible collection, Softs featured John Etheridge's considerable guitar playing talents and would also be the final album to feature founder member Mike Ratledge. Unavailable for nearly 15 years, this Esoteric Recordings reissue has been re-mastered from the original tapes and is available digitally for the first time.

LAUREL AITKEN - REGGAE POPCORN

Born in Cuba in 1927 and moving to his fathers homeland of Jamaica eleven years later, Laurel Aitken first began performing calypso songs at the dockside for the arriving tourists. Later he became a popular nightclub performer around Kingston until commencing his recording career in 1957 with the release of the R&B/Calypso spiritual 'Roll Jordan Roll', produced by Stanley Motta's Carribean Recording Company.
A year later, Aitken joined Chris Blackwell's fledgling Island Records and gained the accolade of having the first release on this Ska/Reggae pioneering label. The double A-sided 'Little Sheila'/'Boogie In My Bones' was one of the earliest Ska records and became a massive hit in Jamaica before going on to become the country's first record to be released in the U.K. Regarded by most as one of Reggae Music’s pioneers & The Godfather of Ska, Laure Aitken is a true legend who has inspired everyone from Jah Wobble to Bob Marley.

WESTERN PROMISE - WAITIN' TO EXPLODE

Western Promise are Rock ‘N Roll rascals, who walk it like they talk it. Stage invasions, riots and fights at live gigs are common with the band getting stuck in right in the thick of it. They released an album and two singles on the legendary UK indie Midnight Music in the mid-80s.

With Johnny Mac at the driving wheel, the band played with The Clash on several occasions and toured with Joe Strummer on the infamous Rock Against the Rich Tour in 88/89. They headlined their biggest gig with Billy Bragg and The Icicle Works at Liverpool’s People Festival in 85, also playing with The Las, The Christians, The Farm Paul Weller, Madness, and many more.

Johnny Mac formed the Rock The Dock movement in the mid-90 s, supporting the striking Liverpool dockworkers and organised with Creation Records the release of a fundraising CD with Oasis, Paul Weller, The Cast, Primal Scream and Beth Orton among many others…now, they’re back!

CINEPLEXX & DUGLAS T. STEWART - TIGER TRAP

Cineplexx is the brainchild of Sebastian Litmanovich - an Argentinean born Graphic Artist. Growing up at a time when the sounds of punk clashed with the short-lived wave of disco and the singer-songwriter was contrasted by the album-centric epics of bands like Pink Floyd, Sebastian found himself somewhere in the middle. "The Velvet Underground were the first band that really blew my mind… and I've been a fan of ABBA ever since I was four," he admits.

Following the release of the fantastic 'Nuevahola' last year, Cherry Red presents 'Tiger Trap' the second single to be taken from the album after Mejor. 'Tiger Trap' is an infectious lullaby with the BMX Bandits Duglas T. Stewart sharing lead vocals.

The B-Sides include a Shoe-gaze version of the track with Spanish vocals and a brand new song from Cineplexx 'Desda Ahora'.
