Songs For The Jet Set - Drugstore

Songs For The Jet Set
Led by Brazilian Isabel Montiero who relocated to England in 1990, Drugstore are a London-based outfit excelling in alternative, late-night, wine drenched, smoky but occasionally spiteful indie pop. The band was formed in 1993 by Monteiro, Dave Hunter (guitar) and Mike Chylinski (drums). Just before the release of their highly acclaimed first single "Alive" in 1994, on their own label (honey), Hunter was replaced by guitarist Daron Robinson. Songs for the Jetset is perhaps their most popular & critically acclaimed album. Recorded in under two weeks, the band produced its best album to date. With sparse arrangements, creating an atmospheric and seductive vibe, perfect for the intimate vocals of singer-songwriter Isabel. The album was well-received by the press, but the band, unexpectedly, went into hibernation thereafter.
