Such A Much! R&B Girls of the 50s & 60s
•    Here's a crunching collection of R&B girls, with coyness in short supply. In fact, the sassy singers gathered here on this collection of rockers, wailers, and neo-popcorn favourites tend not to be girls, exactly.

•    Highlights include Blanche Thomas's You Ain't So Such A Much, written as a response to Hound Dog - faster, tougher, and easier on its feet. Ruth Brown's atmospheric Sure 'Nuff includes King Curtis on sax and Phil Spector on piano, with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller producing. Doris Payne went on to become better known - and to score a sizeable hit with Just One Look in 1963 - as Doris Troy.

•    Like Doris, both Marie Knight and Big Maybelle are better known for their sixties soul sides than they are for their fifties R&B ravers, but I've Got A Feelin' and I Thought I Told You Not To Tell Them are jukebox-ready classics.

•    All twenty songs here are floor fillers, waiting to be the centrepiece of a movie soundtrack or - better yet - the soundtrack to your next house party.

NB: This title is released on October 27, 2014 and will not be dispatched until this date.

TRACK LIST:

1.    COME ON AND LOVE ME – Lucille Brown
2.    YOU AIN'T SO SUCH A MUCH – Blanche Thomas

Early Gerry Anderson (Supercar) rubs shoulders with Honor Blackman (The Avengers), with help from stellar composer credits like John Barry and Johnny Dankworth.

•    Compiled by pop historian Bob Stanley – who also writes the sleevenotes – and DJ Martin Green, this is a proper 60s UK time capsule.

Saint Etienne Presents: Songs For A London Winter
Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs have ransacked their record collections, with a helping hand from DJ Martin Green, to give you the sound of Piccadilly in December – baubles, bangles, tinsel and whisky macs. Bagpipe Music
Bagpipe Music - an album first released in 1981 to high critical acclaim from artists hailed as the "worlds first poetry dance band"… The Art Objects. The brainchild of Bristol poet Gerard Langley and the pre-cursor to his current band The Blue Aeroplanes, this album was the first time poetry and music had been uniquely fused together in such a way that even John Cooper Clark would envy. A collection of "brilliant images and stunning sounds that nothing else comes close to" yelled the music press. Even Radio One woke up and offered daytime airplay to the single "Showing off to Impress the Girls". The Art Objects had arrived, four of Bristols' finest musicians providing the perfect backdrop for Gerards' words - words that speak for themselves, but only if you're prepared to listen - and now you can, this time on CD for the first time, with four extra previously unreleased tracks. Quality Street: Expanded Edition

· World Of Twist are a deeply revered, respected band and one of the greatest ‘lost’ bands from Manchester. Genius is a moniker often given too easily but in World Of Twist’s case, not nearly enough. They cut through the hazy end of Madchester with a suaveness, a wit and an knowingness showcased by their collection of psychedeliic, soulful, madcap indie pop. It set them apart from anything else at the time – "a Roxy Music for the space age” as Louder Than War put it.

· Quality Street, their only album, was released in 1991. It features the singles The Storm, the ecstatic cover of the Stones She’s A Rainbow, Sweets and the legendary Sons Of The Stage.

· The band left a mark on many people who have achieved greatness - Jeremy Deller, one of the finest artists the UK has ever produced, included a "We Miss The World Of Twist” float in his work ‘Procession’ at the Manchester International Festival. Noel Gallagher nearly called Oasis Sons Of The Stage and Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye have covered that track in tribute to a band who influenced them so much. Noel even personally insisted that Jamie Fry, whose photographs grace the album artwork, was used for Oasis shoots.

· Now after many years of being unavailable, this legendary album is now available on CD and LP.

· Expanded to 2CDs, the album comes with a selection of B-sides chosen by founder member, Gordon King, plus the two Radio 1 sessions for John Peel and Mark Goodier.

· The album will include a 24 page booklet featuring extensive sleevenotes by Gordon King and full of memorabilia and rare photos from the World Of Twist archive.

We miss the World Of Twist. Do you?

Mafioso...And Other Great Piccioni Scores
•    Piero Piccioni was one of the golden generation of popular Italian composers, emerging  in the '50s and early 1960s, whose primary focus was in the creation of film scores.

•    With the advent of the New Wave and the arrival of the spaghetti western invented by the genre's masters directors, Sergio Leone and Sergio Corbucci,  Piccioni, and such contemporaries as Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani, Bruno Nicolai, Francesco De Masi and Nico Fidenco were propelled onto the international stage.

•    If Morricone re-wrote the musical language of film, Piccioni also quickly established a unique compositional voice; an impressive, astounding blend of jazz, pop and orchestral styles.

•    The composer's innate versatility and eclecticism is showcased by the scores featured in this edition. The centrepiece is his music for Alberto Lattuada's Mafioso, a 1962 black comedy starring the great Alberto Sordi  for whom Piccioni would eventually write more than fifty film soundtracks. Mafioso is a clever, thought-provoking film that many consider set the standard for every mafia film that would follow

•    Also featured within our presentation is music from the television documentaries Il Mondo di Notte (The World by Night), a selection of themes from what is arguably Piccioni's most lovely score, Mauro Bolognini's Senilita (Careless) - an intense romance set in Trieste, which finds the lovely Claudia Cardinale alongside a desperate Tony Franciosa.
The finishing touch is the long deleted Piero Piccioni Presenta Lydia MacDonald album. Born in Edinburgh of a Scottish father and an Italian mother, MacDonald - with Edda Dell'Orso and Mina - was one of the composer's favourite female vocalists. She famously performed Mr. Dante Fontana and Richmond Bridge on Fumo di Londra, and her distinctive,
sensual voice illuminated any number of Piccioni's scores.

N.B. This album is released August 18 and will not be dispatched before this date.

Lost Girls: Expanded Edition
"I’m so glad these songs at last get to be heard – ragged and raw, done and undone, whatever, they were loved and not at all Lost after all…”   Patrick Fitzgerald, 2014

"Over a wasted, civil war-style landscape comes a vocal that sounds like some daughter of Tim Buckley intoning a lament for the dead - I know nothing about Lost Girls; all I know is the world should know more about them.” Needle’s Eye review, NME, 1999

•    In 1997, Patrick Fitzgerald had left Kitchens of Distinction, his band of 10 years, and Heidi Berry had left 4AD for whom she had recorded three albums following being invited to sing on the This Mortal Coil album ‘Blood’.

•    Following a speculative phone call, they got together in 1998 to work out their frustrations and re-imagined what they could do.  And over the next few months songs came together.  They played some live shows, including supporting John Martyn, and the duo of Lost Girls became a five piece group with the addition of Ashley Wood on guitar, drummer Dave Morgan (The Loft, Primal Scream, Rockingbirds) and bassist Kim Smith.

•    They reworked the songs as a group and put them out to tender and waited...

•    A single, Needle’s Eye, was self-released in 1999 but otherwise the recordings sat gathering dust... until now!

•    Dusted off and brightened up, the long-lost Lost Girls album is released as a 2CD set featuring all the recordings made by the duo and the group and the 21 tracks here are split into the originally intended album (CD1) and bonus material (CD2).

N.B. This album is released October 20 and will not be dispatched before this date.
