Bad Attitude: 30th Anniversary Edition - Meat Loaf

Bad Attitude: 30th Anniversary Edition
•    "Bad Attitude” is Meat Loaf’s fourth studio album. Representing an upswing in the singer’s career, the album features four singles; ‘Nowhere Fast’, ‘Modern Girl’, ‘Surf's Up’ and ‘Piece Of The Action’.

•    After the phenomenal success of debut LP "Bat Out Of Hell” in 1977 (34 million copies and counting), Meat Loaf followed it with 1981’s "Dead Ringer”, another sizeable hit, with both albums showcasing the mercurial song writing talents of Jim Steinman. Having then parted company with Steinman, 1983’s "Midnight At The Lost And Found” found the singer in somewhat of a commercial dip, until 1984’s "Bad Attitude”. It features two Steinman penned tunes, ‘Surf’s Up’, previously recorded for Jim Steinman’s solo debut "Bad For Good” in 1981 plus ‘Nowhere Fast’, which had originally been written for the soundtrack to the movie "Streets Of Fire”.

•    There are also two notable duets on this record; The Who’s Roger Daltrey appears on the title track, whilst Clare Torry, who is probably best known for her vocals on Pink Floyd’s "Dark Side Of The Moon”, duets on ‘Modern Girl’.

•    This edition is packaged in a digi-pak with extensive liner notes, 16 page booklet, plus plenty of rare artwork and memorabilia.

Twice as Sweet- Expanded Edition
Released on 26/10/11 TWICE AS SWEET was A TASTE OF HONEY's third album overall, and their first since being reduced to the duo of JANICE MARIE JOHNSON and HAZEL PAYNE. The album was produced by jazz legend GEORGE DUKE. First single RESCUE ME returned the band to the R&B top 20 and also quickly became heavily-sampled in early hip hop. Second single I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT YOU also gave the band a minor R&B hit. However, it was the album's third single, a cover of a Japanese pop song with new English-language lyrics written by Johnson, that gave the band a massive surprise hit. SUKIYAKI topped the Adult Contemporary charts and gave the band a second R&B chart-topper as well asmaking #3 on the US Pop chart and becoming a million-selling single.

Chaka: 35th Anniversary Edition
•    CHAKA KHAN (born Yvette Marie Stevens) is one of R&B and Soul music’s most enduring female vocalists having enjoyed a career spanning four decades boasting multiple Grammy awards and a succession of hit singles including the smash #1 R&B classics ‘I’m Every Woman,’ and the Prince penned ‘I Feel For You.’

•    After building her career performing with many groups in the late 60’s and early 70’s Khan found wider acclaim and notoriety from 1972 when she joined the pivotal Funk group Rufus as lead singer. After six successful years with Rufus, who achieved six gold or platinum albums, Khan went solo in 1978 releasing CHAKA, the first of many hit albums she recorded for Warner Bros Records.

•    On its release CHAKA had an immediate impact on the charts peaking at #2 R&B and #12 Pop. Khan proved that her dynamic vocal style could hold its own ground outside the successful Rufus set up. The opening track and first single from the album was the aforementioned solid gold R&B classic ‘I’m Every Woman’ which topped the R&B singles charts and peaked at #21 Pop and #30 Disco, having found a home in the discotheques just as comfortably as on the radio. This ground breaking song was written especially for Khan by the prolific partnership of Ashford & Simpson and proved to be the ideal showcase for the versatile singer.

•    The second single ‘Life Is A Dance’ reached a very respectable #40 R&B. Another stand out track is the beautiful ballad ‘Roll Me Through The Rushes’ which commanded heavy rotation on the radio air waves despite never being released as a single and shows yet another side to Khan’s vocal dexterity. ‘Some Love’ however could be argued as the best track on the album with its propulsive funky bass intro, strong dynamic vocal, chanting horns and soaring strings that have been calling clubbers to the dance floor for decades.

•    BBR is very proud to bring you, CHAKA, completely re-mastered and repackaged complete with extensive liner notes and interviews.

•    CHAKA is an essential purchase for all R&B, Soul, Funk, Disco and Pop fans out there!

•    This CD is released 7th April and will not be shipped prior to release.
