Hold On Inside, Complete Recordings 1991-1986 2CD - 14 Iced Bears

Hold On Inside, Complete Recordings 1991-1986 2CD
Brighton’s 14 ICED BEARS emerged in 1986 as part of the C86 generation of Indie-Pop bands.
Early singles ‘Inside’ (1986) and ‘Balloon Song’ (1987) were quintessential jangly guitar nuggets, issued on ex-TVPs bassist Mark Flunder’s Frank label.
After an EP Come Get Me for the impeccably cool Sarah Records, they signed to Thunderball in 1988 for more psychedelic ‘World I Love’ and ‘Mother Sleep’ and eponymous debut album.
1991’s second LP Wonder was a more sprawling, adventurous creation (close to shoegazer territory) but 14 Iced Bears split soon after. They reunited in 2010 and have since played Indietracks and some shows in the USA.
HOLD ON INSIDE is the first retrospective to offer their complete output from 1986-1991, albeit presented in reverse order, as if travelling back in time – very psychedelic!
Compiled by 14 Iced Bears singer/songwriter/guitarist Rob Sekula, this 2-CD boasts re-mastered music as well as a splendid, annotated booklet boasting rare photos and personal memories from the band.

John Peel’s enthusiasm was clearly evident: "I like these Iced Bears, all fourteen of them!"

Alexis Petridis, head music critic at the Guardian said: "I genuinely think 14 Iced Bears' eponymous debut album is a bit of a lost psych classic."

Red Talk
Widely regarded as the best female rock band Japan has ever produced. Seagulls were discovered by Cornelius (Japan's biggest underground popstar) and signed to his stylish Trattoria sound label. Subsequently the band has built up a considerable catalogue of domestic releases and a fanbase of 50,000. SSKHKH are number 3 in Courtney Love's top 5 picks for 2001 and she is continuing to rave about them on the internet or to anyone that will listen.

Seagulls have toured America twice (playing with the likes of Modest Mouse, Yo La Tengo and Mogwai) despite their records only being available as expensive imports. "Red Talk' is the first Seagulls screaming release anywhere outside of Japan "Red Talk' is also the definitive Seagulls compilation with exclusive design by el graphic and containing an exclusive video track called "Sister Sister".

If Wishes Were Horses
Released on 18/01/10. Blueboy's first album, originally released in 1992, will be reissued on El Records. In keeping with the Sarah tradition, the original album was an 8-track mini-album with no singles or previously / later released tracks, but it is re-released with addition of the band s first four singles and their B-sides as a 19-track album. All of this material has been unavailable, except for download, since around the time Sarah shut up shop in 1995. Blueboy were formed by lyricist and singer, Keith Girdler, and songwriter and guitarist, Paul Stewart in Reading in the early 1990s. Since meeting around a decade earlier, Paul and Keith had been in various bands together before Blueboy, and had sent previous demos to Sarah. However, it was the demo for Clearer, which was released in 1991 as their first single, which got them their deal. Whilst their initial releases were gentle and acoustic, they expanded into a full band, with bass, drums, keyboards and cello, and eventually including Harvey Williams on guitar. Their later albums will be reissued on EL Records, of which Keith and Paul were both huge fans, over the coming months. Our Price: £9.95

13 Years In Noises
The definitive "story so far" compilation from this amazing, constantly evolving and much admired group reads as follows. Formed in the aftermath of the Velvet Revolution, The Ecstasy Of St. Theresa released the first ever Czech indie records, quickly getting the attention of John Peel, and recording what became a legendary session for his Radio 1 show. Released commercially as an EP, it topped the CMJ chart, and got to number 6 in the UK indie charts when this meant something! The group quickly moved beyond this essentially shoe-gazing style to explore many soundscapes; film soundtracks, remixes. the whole thing! Here for the first time, the complete story of this seminal group, from their classic Peel session via their film soundtrack (including "For This Moment" from the platinum soundtrack to the film "Loners") work to their latest project, a collaboration with British Sea Power "It's A Lovely Day Tomorrow" - otherwise available outside the Czech Republic only at British Sea Power shows, but on here EXCLUSIVELY providing a fitting close to chapter one of the Ecstasy Of St. Theresa. As the Czech Republic bravely enters the EU, Rev-Ola presents another chance to hear the story from the start. Our Price: £9.95
