Back in the mid-80s, The Primitives combined the fuzz
guitars of The Jesus & Mary Chain with the pop sensibilities of Blondie and
a nod to cult heroes The Velvet Underground. They swiftly rose
from being a popular Indie guitar outfit to charting worldwide with "Crash”,
kickstarting a craze in bands fronted by blonde female singers (Transvision
Vamp, The Darling Buds et al).
Between 1985 and 1987, the band issued five singles/EP’s
on independent label Lazy Records (also home to My Bloody Valentine and later
Birdland) before signing with RCA.
Everything’s Shining Bright is named after their
planned Lazy Records album, which was abandoned when the band left the label –
indeed, seven of the ten previously unissued tracks here stem from those
scotched LP sessions. Also unearthed is the band’s very first demo from 1985,
consisting of three tracks including a dry-run through their eventual hit
This 2-CD set also boasts their promo-only live album at the ICA; as
such, it offers their entire Lazy output from that period.

An expanded re-release of this much-loved Top Five UK chart album first released in June 1980. Often touted as 'the UK's answer to Blondie', there was much more to the Photos than that, with fiery, Buzzcocks-like guitars coiling round Wendy Wu's vocals.
Formed in Evesham from the ashes of cult punk act Satan's Rats, the Photos also released a clutch of great 'garage-girl' singles, including 'Irene', 'Friends' and 'Now You Tell Me That We're Through', all included here. As a bonus, both sides of the band's debut single, 'I'm So Attractive' c/w 'Guitar Hero', and later bside 'Je T'Aime', which have never before released on CD, are included!
The album also includes the entire "Blackmail Tapes" album of demos and out-takes. The artwork has been expanded to include new liner notes written in collaboration with guitarist Steve Eagles, with accompanying interviews with others around the band. The band were originally due to sign with Cherry Red, before accepting an offer from CBS. Nearly three decades later, Cherry Red is delighted at last to be able to offer a home to one of the great pop albums of the early 80s.

All Tomorrows Parties - Nico Live
One of the most fascinating figures of rock's fringes, Nico hobnobbed, worked, and was romantically linked with an incredible assortment of the most legendary entertainers of the '60s.
Nico first rose to fame as a European supermodel, also landing a bit part in Fellini's ‘La Dolce Vita’ film. In the mid-1960's she moved to New York, where Andy Warhol installed her as a vestigial presence and occasional lead singer for the Velvet Underground. The band never really accepted her as a bona fide member and she departed in 1967, but not before contributing unforgettable deadpan vocals to three of the songs on their classic 1967 debut album. Nico embarked on a solo career, recording folk-rock-flavored songs for her debut Chelsea Girl album with assistance from Jackson Browne, Lou Reed, and John Cale. Her 1969 follow-up, The Marble Index, was a dramatic departure that unveiled her doom-laden, gothic persona, produced by Cale and prominently featuring her deep vocals, impenetrable lyrics, and ghostly harmonium. Her subsequent '70s albums explored much the same territory, with assistance from Cale and influential art rockers like Brian Eno. She fought a constant struggle with a massive drug habit and tangled personal life and eventually died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Ibiza in 1988. The original Goth rocker, Nico's albums are demanding and bleak, but map a unique and starkly powerful vision that has become more influential with age. A brand new, previously unreleased double-album featuring 2 shows from one of the great all-time rock music icons - Nico. All Tomorrow's Parties" features extremely rare material from two shows Nico played in the UK in the early 1980's.
