Rebbie Jackson is related to that famous Jackson family –She is the oldest being born on May 29, 1950 and has stayed in the shadows, almost unheralded and certainly never acclaimed in the manner of her brothers and sisters. These are hitherto comparatively undiscovered albums, with quality songs and distinctive vocal performances.

The 'Centipede' album reached 63 on the US charts and 13 on the r&b charts. This was very much a family affair with Rebbie's husband co-writing the song 'Come Alive Saturday Night' with her brothers Randy and Tito. The latter also co-wrote 'Hey Boy', with his wife and the biggest song on the record was the title track, which was written, produced and arranged by Michael Jackson, who also did the backing vocals. Released as a single, it reached number 24 on the US charts. The next album, "Reaction” was produced by Tito Jackson, with David Townsend and David Conley and reached number 54 on the R&B Charts. There were two great duets 'You Send The Rain Away' saw Rebbie team up with Cheap Trick's Robin Zander, and 'Tonight I'm Yours' had Isaac Hayes joining Rebbie.

Alicia / Alicia Again : Two Original Classic Soul Albums On One Cd
The former lead singer with the R&B/dance music group One Way, Detroit-born Alicia Myers had a total of four albums released on MCA Records between 1981-84, experiencing varying degrees success with each.Produced by songwriter and One Way bass player Kevin McCord and multi-instrumentalist Al Perkins, the 1981 LP ALICIA – previously only available on CD in Japan – contained two tracks that have long been favourites among soul music collectors on both sides of the Atlantic: the gospel-influenced ‘I Want To Thank You’ (a US Top 40 R&B hit) and the rare groove gem, ‘If You Play Your Cards Right.’ The album spent six months on the US R&B charts.Released just eight months after her well-received MCA debut, ALICIA AGAIN – reissued for the first time worldwide with this 2012 Records two-on-one CD – was also produced by Al Perkins and was a family affair including a number of song penned by Alicia’s bassist brother Jackie and her siblings Evalyn and Aaron with Jackie on background vocals. Musicians included guitarist Bruce Nazarian (Johnnie Taylor, the Temptations, and Brides of Funkenstein); Parliament-Funkadelic percussionist Larry Fratangelo; and One Way keyboardist Corky Meadows.

"Myers’ voice, with its huskiness, smoky timbre and strong gospel inflections is certainly distinctive though some of the material on her debut – helmed by fellow One Way cohorts, Al Perkins and Kevin McCord – is not equal to the strength of her impressive pipes.”
