Hysterics - Nightingales

Hysterics
Hysterics' is our third Nightingales catalogue release in recent years, originally came out on the Red Flame label in 1983 and spent several weeks in the Top 20 Indie chart

Robert Lloyd formed the original band in 1979 in Birmingham after the demise of his original outfit The Prefects. They were immediately championed by John Peel and went on to record the highly acclaimed debut album 'Pigs On Purpose' which we released on CD last year.

There has been a renaissance of interest in the band over the past couple of years. They have reformed, performed several highly acclaimed gigs both here in the UK and in the
US, and are currently writing material for a new album.

Bagpipe Music
Bagpipe Music - an album first released in 1981 to high critical acclaim from artists hailed as the "worlds first poetry dance band"… The Art Objects. The brainchild of Bristol poet Gerard Langley and the pre-cursor to his current band The Blue Aeroplanes, this album was the first time poetry and music had been uniquely fused together in such a way that even John Cooper Clark would envy. A collection of "brilliant images and stunning sounds that nothing else comes close to" yelled the music press. Even Radio One woke up and offered daytime airplay to the single "Showing off to Impress the Girls". The Art Objects had arrived, four of Bristols' finest musicians providing the perfect backdrop for Gerards' words - words that speak for themselves, but only if you're prepared to listen - and now you can, this time on CD for the first time, with four extra previously unreleased tracks. Pleasure
Released 18/05/09. Girls At Our Best were one of the finest, most life-affirming of a new breed of independent bands who cropped up at the turn of the 80s – long-standing fan John Peel once referred to them as one of the few groups that made the period bearable. Formed in Leeds from the ashes of legendary original punk band SOS, the group were fronted by distinctive female vocalist Jude ‘Jo’ Evans, forming a songwriting team with guitarist James Alan and bass player Gerard Swift after they met at art college. All four of their singles for their own Record Records, Rough Trade and Happy Birthday Records are included here as bonus tracks – including the wonderful ‘Getting Nowhere Fast’ (later covered by The Wedding Present), its coruscating b-side ‘Warm Girls’, ‘Politics!’, ‘Go For Gold’ and ‘Fast Boyfriends’. Also included is a previously unreleased session for BBC DJ Richard Skinner. As a final bonus, there’s also a completely unheard, virgin demo from the band’s very final recording session. All tracks have been digitally re-mastered from source tapes where possible. Our Price: £9.95

Peace in the Heart of the City
This is a great title and describes accurately the contents of the album. It is very relaxing, peaceful, heartful, instrumental piano music. Morgan Fisher has had a fascinating career. Was originally the keyboard player in Love Affair who had a No 1 hit with "Everlasting Love" when he was 16 years old. Went on to join Mott The Hoople who had several top ten hits in the early to mid 70's. In 1978 he was one of the first musicians to form his own label, Pipe Music, recording the groundbreaking "Miniatures" album. In 1981 he played keyboards with Queen on their world tour. Since 1985 he has lived in Tokyo and has been very successful there writing music for TV commercials and film soundtracks. During this time he has recorded 12 albums and has built up a strong following in that country. This CD can be racked in both "New Age" sections and under his name "Morgan Fisher" as a known artist. Blue Skies & Freerides - Best Of The Creation Years
Forged in 1986 from the ashes of Creation Records trailblazers The Loft, The Weather Prophets straddled the divide between post-Postcard guitar jangle and a more robust strain rock and roll classicism. With this album, Blue Skies & Freerides… The Best Of 1986-89 (CDMRED 251), we present a long overdue 20 track compilation of the Weather Prophet’s years on Creation Records. With a tracklisting chosen by lead singer Pete Astor and including the Top Ten indie chart hits ”I Almost Prayed”, "Naked As The Day You Were Born”, "Hollow Heart” and "Always The Light”, "Blue Skies…” presents an excellent opportunity for some long overdue historical revisionism.
