Dreams Interrupted - Glaxo Babies

Dreams Interrupted
Glaxo Babies were the fore-runners of a wave of Bristol music that spawned The Pop Group, Rip Rig & Panic, Maximum Joy & Pigbag, who all became household names as the jagged edged angst movement quickly gathered respect throughout the world. A firm favourite with John Peel, the Glaxo's soon notched up their first session following on from the highly acclaimed first release - the 12" This your Life EP which included the classic "Who Killed Bruce Lee". Always underrated but never dismissed, they fought back with the blistering Christine Keeler 45 often sighted as the bands finest moment. This collection spans their career, illustrating just how unique and original the Glaxos were, and how their relevance seems ever present with today's jagged edged sounds.

The Independent Singles Collection
Suave; debonair; sophisticated. Haughty, perhaps, for those who favour the pejorative. Aristocratic in more than one sense, classy in at least as many. The Monochrome Set were effortlessly inventive, literate, poised and immaculate of tuneage, possessed of an internal dialogue as a band that allowed them to surf their own narrative. They were just unlike anything else, in layman'sterms. Instead, their sound harked back to a golden era of British pop songwriters. But there was nothing retrogressive about their endeavors. Instead they wrote songs that recreated the drama and promise of a Pearl & Dean interval theme, veering from lullaby to mambo to harmonic pop, accompanied by lush melodies and irresistibly playful lyrics that embraced morbidity at one extreme, and pitch-perfect satire at another.. Brand new release of Monochrome Set'scomplete independent singles collection including b-sides and rare tracks Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim, a long-term fan of the band, has recorded a cover of He's Frank with guest vocals by Iggy Pop and indeed this version has already been broadcast in Heroes.

Hysterics
Hysterics' is our third Nightingales catalogue release in recent years, originally came out on the Red Flame label in 1983 and spent several weeks in the Top 20 Indie chart

Robert Lloyd formed the original band in 1979 in Birmingham after the demise of his original outfit The Prefects. They were immediately championed by John Peel and went on to record the highly acclaimed debut album 'Pigs On Purpose' which we released on CD last year.

There has been a renaissance of interest in the band over the past couple of years. They have reformed, performed several highly acclaimed gigs both here in the UK and in the
US, and are currently writing material for a new album.
