Sue - Frazier Chorus

Sue
At long last, the debut Frazier Chorus album, ‘Sue’, returns. Frazier Chorus hailed from Brighton and consisted of Tim Freeman, Michelle Allardyce, Kate Holmes and Chris Taplin (Holmes is now one half of electro/pop outfit Client along with ex-Dubstar singer Sarah Blackwood). Their finest hour, ‘Sue’ is now expanded with all of the accompanying b-sides from the singles ‘Sloppy Heart’, ‘Dream Kitchen’ and ‘Typical!’ The release also includes their unique take on the Sex Pistols anthem ‘Anarchy In The UK’, along with ‘Spoonhead’, which is available for the first time on CD, plus extended mixes of ‘Dream Kitchen’, ‘Typical!’ and ‘Forty Winks’. The accompanying booklet includes lyrics to all of the songs, along with new liner notes from singer/songwriter Tim Freeman. Freeman is the brother of acclaimed comedy actor Martin Freeman, whose character Tim in The Office was based on his sibling… a fact of which he is actually quite proud!

Press:-

"With his articulate, witty lyrics-delivered in a mannered whisper and full of rainy days, cups of tea and Little Chefs-the four-piece refined a carefully orchestrated, colourful contrast to The Smiths’ recent monochrome take on the English condtion.”

Cherlokalate
Effervescent songbird Jane Weaver once again takes flight this Spring with this spellbinding collection of heartrending recordings. Having spent that past year residing under an apple tree on the outer limits of Greater Manchester putting the finishing touches to her new album immersed in the sounds of Linda Perhacs, Karen Dalton, Josephine Foster, These Trails and The Pink Fairies, the past few months have seen Jane travel over hill and over dale by special request to make a handful of rare live appearances across the UK and US alongside the likes of Voice Of The Seven Woods, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Wendy Flower (Wendy & Bonnie), and most recently Josephine Foster.

Jane Weaver is a rare creature in the vanity-stricken world of female singers, and perhaps with a more generous roll of the dice we might all have heard of her. Serving her apprenticeship in the mid-nineties girl-guitar-pop outfit Kill Laura, Jane would go on to front Twisted Nerve's Misty Dixon and release her critically acclaimed solo mini-album, 'Like An Aspen Leaf', as well as recording a slew of singles with the help of Doves and an album for Mancunian music maverick Rob Gretton's Manchester Records which went unreleased following his death until Jane dusted down the tapes and released it through her very own Bird imprint.

'Cherlokalate' is the highly anticipated follow up to last years critically acclaimed debut album proper, 'Seven Day Smile' (2EGGS). Stripped back and laid bare, Jane's songwriting has moved from strength to strength and her dulcet tones have lost none of their potency. Jane's quiet riot continues unabashed as word spreads of her unassuming but bewitching talent.

Battle Hymns For Children Singing The Best Of Haysi Fantayzee
Haysi Fantayzee were formed in 1981 by fashion photographer Kate Garner, former Animal Magnet member Paul Caplin and Jeremy Healy, a well-known face on London's club scene. Together they set about injecting a sense of fun and adventure into the music scene, wearing outlandish, selfdesigned costumes and dreadlocks, and writing songs that married sexual subversion with deliberately disposable and cocksure dayglo pop.

Their 'Dickensian Rasta' look was an immediate hit and saw their debut single 'John Wayne Is Big Leggy' rise to number 11 in the national charts. In their brief career they would also enjoy chart success with 'Holy Joe' and 'Shiny Shiny'. All three hits are reprised on this CD, as is their sole album, Battle Hymns For Children Singing.

The package also features a host of bonus tracks, remixes, and sleevenotes written with the co-operation of both Healy and Garner. The former went on to become one of the UK's most successful DJs, while the latter is an accomplished and in-demand photographer for artists including Sinead O'Connor, Bjork, David Bowie and others.

Ferment
Released on 22/03/10. Their epic debut single for Font Black Metallic brought them attention and praise from the press and fans alike. It also became their biggest hit in the States making the top ten in the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and is still name checked now as indie classic of the early 90's. The band followed this with two more singles, Balloon and I Want To Touch You before releasing their debut album Ferment in mid-1992. The album was produced by Talk Talk's Tim Friese-Greene who continued to produce and help them before they split in 2000. This long overdue and welcome reissue includes newly written sleeve notes by journalist and early champion of the band, Jack Rabid from Big Takeover magazine and 6 additional bonus tracks chosen by the band. These being the limited edition 2,000 only pressing of the 30 Century Man E.P., the non-album single Balloon and live fan favourite Intravenous which fans have been trying to get hold of for years. The band went on to release four more albums before calling it a day. Rob Dickinson has since released a solo album for Universal, Fresh Wine For The Horse, while Neil Sims and Brian Futter went on to form 50ft Monster. Our Price: £9.95

Every Conversation
June Brides were from South London and had considerable success in the Independent Charts in the mid 1980's. The band was built around lyricist, guitarist and vocalist Phil Wilson. They were unusual at the time as although they operated in the independent sector they had a brass section. Their album, 'There Are Eight Million Stories' was No 1 for four weeks in the Independent Chart in September 1985 and stayed in that chart for a total of 38 weeks. This is a double album which contains all the June Brides tracks ever recorded including the BBC Radio I sessions with John Peel and Janice Long, plus the solo work from Phil Wilson which followed the break up of the band. This definitive double album 41 track package includes very detailed sleevenotes (6,000 words), rare pictures and complete discography. Our Price: £9.95
