Can't Fight Fate: Deluxe Edition - Taylor Dayne

Can't Fight Fate: Deluxe Edition
•    "Can’t Fight Fate", the second album from powerhouse vocalist and perennial pop icon Taylor Dayne, receives a Deluxe Edition double CD reissue on Cherry Pop.

•    Originally released in 1989, "Can’t Fight Fate" built on the success of Taylor’s debut, "Tell It To My Heart", with a more diverse and mature collection of songs reflecting the wide range of her musical influences, resulting in a double platinum certification in the US.

•    "Can’t Fight Fate" includes the classic ballad, "Love Will Lead You Back", Taylor’s first US #1, and three further international hits - the perennial anthem "I’ll Be Your Shelter", "With Every Beat Of My Heart" and "Heart Of Stone". Produced by Taylor's longtime collaborator Ric Wake, the album features Taylor's first self-penned tracks and contributions from legendary songwriters Diane Warren and Marvin Hamlisch.

•    Digitally remastered direct from the master tapes, this Deluxe Edition also features comprehensive bonus material, much of it on CD for the first time. Every mix which appeared on the original single releases is included, together with two rare 12" club remixes of "Up All Night" – originally intended as a fifth single in late 1990 - and the B-side "All I Ever Wanted".

•    With personal input from Taylor herself, the extensive booklet also features additional photos, a fully illustrated discography and recording data, lyrics and brand new sleeve notes.

•    Since Taylor Dayne made her chart-topping debut in 1987, she has sold over 75 million records, with five studio albums and over 20 hit singles to her name. Her career highlights include three Grammy nominations, songwriting for Tina Turner, Broadway acclaim for her roles in "Cats" and Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida", and induction into her native Long Island's Musicians Hall Of Fame alongside fellow LI luminaries Billy Joel, Lou Reed and Pat Benatar. Taylor has live dates scheduled internationally throughout 2014 and also plans to release new material this year.

•    "Can't Fight Fate" is reissued alongside a Deluxe Edition of Taylor's third album "Soul Dancing".

•    This CD is released 21st April and will not be shipped prior to this date.

Teach Me Tonight
Released 16th February 2009. When Blossom Dearie first emerged as a solo artist she was already unique in many ways. Straightaway there was that voice - kittenish, intimate, coquettish and understated where so many other jazz divas were straining to belt out every song. With the fascinating 1957-58 albums Give Him the Ooh-la-la and Once Upon a Summertime Blossom finds a unique, light, refined niche on the pop side of jazz. Ray Brown remains for the 1958 set with Herb Ellis and Jo Jones replaced by Mundell Lowe and Ed Thigpen. Our Price: £9.95

Phil’s pivotal role provides a uniquely broad perspective, extending from the top of the organisation, mixing many classic SAW hits, down to the bottom , training up-and-coming engineers, as well as involvement in the creative, business (and diplomatic!) aspects of being a critically-acclaimed producer in his own right and developing a profile and client base under the management of Pete Waterman. After a sold-out limited release in 2009, the book has undergone extensive development into this Expanded Edition, and contains a wealth of new material...

"Orchestrated by one of the music industry’s most revered remixers and producers, Phil Harding, ‘Club Mixes of the ‘80s’ showcases his 30+ career spanning years at the musical wheel.”

(Annecarlini.com)

"Sound engineer Phil Harding, a former member of the PWL team, takes us inside of the PWL studios, where no-name artists like Rick Astley and Klie Minogue were advocated to levels of recognition incomprehensible to the artist struggling to pay their dues in hopes of reaching similar fame and success.”

Good Love
Following the well-received 2012 reissue of her 1986 Capitol debut album DO ME BABY (SMCR-5044), SoulMusic Records presents the New York-born singer-songwriter’s sophomore album for the label, GOOD LOVE.
Meli’sa Morgan’s career skyrocketed with her 1985 cover of Prince’s ‘Do Me Baby,’ a No. 1 U.S. R&B single and U.S. Top 50 pop hit.
Like her successful album debut, 1987’s GOOD LOVE featured production by Paul Laurence and five tracks co-produced by Meli’sa and co-writer Lesette Wilson. In addition, hitmaker in his own right, producer/songwriter Kashif produced his duet with Mel’isa on ‘Love Changes’ a cover of the Mother’s Finest recording that gave the duo a No. 2 R&B hit in 1987; while Brian and Shelly Morgan and the team of Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers also contributed to the album.
GOOD LOVE became a Top 20 R&B Album best-seller and has long been out of print on CD. This expanded edition features six bonus tracks including a club mix of the No. 2 U.S. R&B hit, ‘If You Can Do It: I Can Too!’, an extended remix of the album’s title track and an eight-minute plus ‘Special Club Opus’ mix of ‘Here Comes The Night,’ a 1988 Top 30 R&B hit for Meli’sa.
Notes by renowned U.S. writer Justin Kantor include quotes from 2013 interviews with Meli’sa and Kashif for this reissue.

Think it Over (Expanded Edition)
Cissy Houston (born Emily Drinkard) has had a long and varied career as a background vocalist, session singer and solo artist but is probably best known for being the mother of the massively successful R&B star Whitney Houston, and the aunt of both Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick. Houston began her career with the family gospel group The Drinkards before joining forces with The Group in the early 60’s. The Group, which included some time members Doris Troy and Dee Dee Warwick, sang background vocals on a number of soul, pop and rock releases, many of which were on Atlantic Records. Atlantics Jerry Wexler signed the group in their own right where they recorded some great gospel-soul in the late 60’s under the name The Sweet Inspirations.

During her time with The Sweet Inspirations Houston sang back-up vocals for Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Lou Rawls, The Drifters, Dusty Springfield, Van Morrison (Brown Eyed Girl), The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Elvis Presley (the ’69 Vegas comeback) and her niece Dionne Warwick. Having gone solo in 1969 Houston recorded the original version of "Midnight Train To Georgia” (later a #1 single for Gladys Knight and The Pips) on her only album for Janus Records.

In 1978 Houston released THINK IT OVER, her second LP on Private Stock Records under the guidance of arranger/producer Michael Zager. This album introduced Houston to the Disco world with the title track and lead single "Think It Over”
reaching a respectable #32 on the Billboard R&B charts and #5 on the Disco charts. "Think It Over” is bona-fide dance floor dynamite with its solid beat and shuffling percussive elements that propel the track forward, the beautiful marriage of piano and strings augmented with arresting, uplifting horn refrains, married to Houston’s incredible, gospel infused, soulful and impassioned vocal. The second single "Warning – Danger” is in much the same vain, again the piano, string and horn interplay is oh so satisfying. Other strong tracks are the groover "Somebody Should Have Told Me,” and the bold ballad "After You” which showcases Houston’s vocal dexterity.

BBR is very proud to present CISSY HOUSTON, expertly re-mastered and complete with extensive liner notes and bonus tracks. CISSY HOUSTON is absolutely essential listening for all Soul, Disco and Pop fans out there!

Availble on 19/08/2013
