Sequal 2CD - Sequal

Sequal 2CD
The much sought-after self-titled 1988 album from Miami freestyle duo Sequal is given a double CD Deluxe Edition reissue on Cherry Pop.
Widely regarded as the best album of the freestyle genre, "Sequal" features a stand-out collaboration with Stock Aitken Waterman on the 1988 single ‘Tell Him I Called’, alongside a string of club classics which epitomised the Miami sound: ‘It’s Not Too Late’, ‘She Don’t Want You’, ‘I’m Over You’ (US #11 Dance), ‘Tell The Truth’ (US #9 Dance), ‘Brand New Love’ and ‘Could’ve Had My Love’. Production credits on the album also include electro pioneer Kurtis Mantronik and Miami legends Lewis A Martinée and Michael Morejon.
Digitally remastered direct from the master tapes, this Deluxe Edition features the original 10-track album plus the original CD and cassette bonus cut cover of Luba’s ‘Let It Go’ and a further 18 remixes, all previously only issued on vinyl, from a virtual ‘Who’s Who’ of late 80s pop and dance: PWL’s Pete Hammond and Harding & Curnow, Justin Strauss, Ric Wake & Richie Jones, plus sought-after early work from 90s luminaries David Morales, ‘Little’ Louie Vega and Danny Tenaglia.
Compiled with personal input from Sequal, the extensive booklet also features additional photos, a fully illustrated discography and recording data, lyrics and new sleeve notes written especially for this release. With original CD copies commanding high prices on the collectors’ market, this is a highly anticipated reissue.
Launched in 1985 by Lewis A Martinée as the ‘sequel’ to girl group Exposé, Sequal are Angie Vollaro and Maria Christensen. Favourites on the Miami scene with ‘It’s Not Too Late’ and ‘She Don’t Want You’, first issued on the independent Joey Boy label, they made their major label debut in 1988 with ‘I’m Over You’ on Capitol. With both members writing much of Sequal’s material, in the 1990s, Maria made a name for herself as a songwriter with credits including Céline Dion and Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Waiting For Tonight’. Sequal reformed in 2008, touring and releasing a new download-only single, ‘My Love For You’.
"Sequal" follows a long line of popular PWL-related reissues on Cherry Pop from artists such as Mel & Kim, Samantha Fox, Sinitta, Hazell Dean, Sonia, Boy Krazy, Princess, Lonnie Gordon, Pepsi & Shirlie and O’chi Brown.

The Twelve Commandments of Dance
A classic slice of uplifting 80s Europop, the London Boys debut album "The Twelve Commandments Of Dance" is given a remastered Special Edition reissue. "The Twelve Commandments Of Dance" reached #2 in the UK, and features the huge Top 5 singles "Requiem" and "London Nights" plus subsequent hits "Harlem Desire" and "My Love". The London Boys were masterminded by German pop producer Ralf-Rene Maue, but a close association with Pete Waterman s Hit Factory resulted in tours alongside Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan and superb PWL 12 remixes of all four UK singles.

These sought-after full-length mixes feature exclusively on this Special Edition, issued together for the very first time. The extensive CD booklet includes full lyrics, additional photos and discography and brand new sleeve notes. The London Boys were Edem Ephraim and Dennis Fuller, who met at school in Greenwich before moving to Hamburg in 1981. The nickname they had been given by the locals became their stage name when they launched a pop career in 1986.

Over the next decade, they sold 4.5 million records worldwide, with major success across Europe and Japan. Tragically, Edem and Dennis died in a car crash in the Austrian Alps in 1996. "The Twelve Commandments Of Dance" follows successful Special Editions of classic PWL albums from Princess, Lonnie Gordon and Mandy Smith, and coincides with the release of Sinitta's "The Hits+ Collection" on Cherry Pop.

Just One Night - Deluxe Edition
Perennial pop icon and pin-up Samantha Fox’s 1991 album "Just One Night", the last she released on Jive Records, is given a very special Deluxe Edition reissue on Cherry Pop.

"Just One Night" features the classic single "Another Woman (Too Many People)" and two further overseas releases – the memorably-titled "(Hurt Me! Hurt Me!) But The Pants Stay On" and the title track, as well as a medley cover of Donna Summer’s "Love To Love You Baby" and the Andrea True Connection’s "More More More". The album found Samantha taking an increasing role in songwriting and collaborating with a range of producers including Clivillés and Cole, Full Force, Ralf-René Maué and Eric Foster White.

Digitally remastered direct from the master tapes, this Deluxe Edition brings together the original 11-track album with no less than 23 bonus tracks across two CDs, including three unreleased Stock Aitken Waterman tracks recorded in early 1991. While "Forever True" was submitted to Jive for possible inclusion on "Just One Night", "A Second Chance" and Sam’s version of the Boy Krazy hit "That’s What Love Can Do" were left unfinished in the wake of Matt Aitken’s departure from PWL. Especially for this release, both tracks have now been completed ‘as they might have been’ in both 7" and 12" form by upcoming remixer/producer Matt Pop, using Sam’s original vocals.

Compiled with personal input from Samantha herself, the extensive booklet also features many additional photos, a fully illustrated discography and recording data, full lyrics and new sleeve notes written especially for this release.

The only British female artist to score three Top Ten hits on both sides of the Atlantic in the 1980s, Samantha Fox made her name as the nation’s favourite Page Three girl before launching an enviable music career. The anthemic "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" became a global chart-topper in 1986 and was followed by a succession of hits, including several collaborations with both the legendary Stock Aitken Waterman and US hip-hop pioneers Full Force. Samantha remains a household name, with a new album planned for 2012 and live dates across Europe.   "Just One Night" coincides with accompanying Deluxe Editions of Sam’s other three Jive albums: 1986’s "Touch Me”, 1987’s "Samantha Fox" and 1989’s "I Wanna Have Some Fun" and follows many other popular PWL-related reissues on Cherry Pop from artists such as Mel & Kim, Sinitta, Hazell Dean, Sonia, Boy Krazy, Brother Beyond, Pepsi & Shirlie and O’chi Brown.
