Give Peace A Chance
Wayne Henderson, along with childhood friends Wilton Felder, Joe Sample, and Nesbert "Stix"¨ Hooper, formed the nucleus of the Jazz Crusaders in 1961. By fusing elements of jazz, funk, soul, R&B, rock, Latin, and gospel, an iridescent sound emerged with such impact that a musical revolution was unearthed. The group signed to Pacific Jazz Records and recorded sixteen albums for them. Their ability to breathe new life into many different types of compositions gained them an immediate fanbase that grew internationally throughout the 1960’s.
At the close of the decade, they recorded a one off album for Liberty Records. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE saw the quartet move in a more soulful direction than on early albums. Amongst their own compositions was an amazing Funky workout of Roy Hawkins’ "The Thrill Is Gone” as well as the Lennon/McCartney tunes "Give Peace A Chance” and "Black Bird”.
GIVE PEACE A CHANCE was not one of the group’s biggest sellers in 1970 due to a lack of promotion from Liberty Records but the album has gained in stature over the decades and is seen very much as the first step towards the band’s seventies fusion classics like Southern Comfort and the international hit Street Life.
BBR is very proud to announce the international CD debut of GIVE PEACE A CHANCE complete with brand new liner notes and remastered sound. It is a must for all Jazz Fusion, Soul and Funk fans out there.

· KOOL & THE GANG need no introduction. They were the top selling Soul group of the 70’s and 80’s having sold over 70 million albums worldwide and have received countless awards. · CELEBRATE!, released in 1980, once again featured the production of legendary Grammy Award Winner, Eumir Deodato. The album garnered huge success, reaching the top spot on the U.S. R&B charts, and top ten positions in both the U.S. and U.K. pop charts, gaining platinum certification in February 1981.

· The albums singles performed just as impressively with CELEBRATION, arguably the group’s most successful song, hitting the top spot on the US Billboard Pop and R&B charts and #7 in the U.K. winning platinum status in the U.S. along the way. CELEBRATION also hit the top of the charts all around the world and was later redubbed with Spanish vocals and released to the Latin American market as CELEBREMOS, and featured as a B-side to TAKE IT TO THE TOP which hit a top 20 spot in the U.K. The soulful lament JONES VS. Relight My Fire: Expanded Edition
Daniel Earl Hartman a.k.a. DAN HARTMAN was an American musician, singer, songwriter and producer who hailed from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his disco hits ‘Instant Replay,’ ‘Love Sensation’ and ‘Relight My Fire’ as well as penning the second biggest hit for the Edgar Winter Group, ‘Free Ride,’ of which he was a member. Having schooled himself playing bass and writing songs for his first band The Legends (which also included his brother Dave) Hartman joined the Edgar Winter Group and appeared on three of their albums before going solo in 1976.

After initially releasing the magnificently titled promotional album "Who Is Dan Hartman and Why is Everyone Saying Wonderful Things About Him?,” which was a retrospective on his career until that point, Hartman scored big in 1978 with the #1 Disco smash ‘Instant Replay’ (from the album of the same name) which also crossed over to the U.S. And U.K. Pop charts.

In 1979 Hartman released RELIGHT MY FIRE (R&B #67, Pop #169), and again hit the top of the Disco charts with the title track, a bonefide disco classic that featured Hartman's friend Loleatta Holloway on vocals and is preceded by the understated "Vertigo” which perfectly sets your anticipation before the main event.  ‘Relight My Fire’ was subsequently covered by U.K. boy band Take That featuring Lulu, who took their version to the top of the U.K. Pop charts in 1993.

Throughout the LP Hartman keeps the party energy in full flow and on the opener ‘Hands Down’ we are treated to Stevie Wonder and Edgar Winter trading licks on harmonica and sax respectively.  ‘Just For Fun’ has a very solid syncopated groove in contrast to the tone of the lyric and exemplifies Hartman's production style. On closer ‘Free Ride’ Hartman shows off his deft production skills by taking the hit he wrote for the Edgar Winter Group and changing the rhythmic emphasis to take the track firmly into the dance floor realm.

Hot Shot Records/BBR is proud to present RELIGHT MY FIRE. This expanded and re-mastered edition comes complete with a foreword from mixer John Luongo, extensive liner notes and added bonus material.

This BBR/Hot Shot Records re-master is a must have for all Disco, Dance and Pop fans out there!
