Misty Blue: Expanded Edition
•    DOROTHY MOORE is a R&B, Soul and Pop vocalist who hails from Jackson, Mississippi and is still enjoying a singing career that has spanned  five decades and has seen her release many highly acclaimed albums that have garnered her no less than 4 Grammy Award nominations and an induction into the Mississippi Musicians Hall Of Fame. The initial stages of Moore’s career saw her first foray into the charts with a 1966 #56 Pop hit "Lullaby Of Love" with female vocal trio The Poppies before recording several solo sides for AVCO, GSF and Chimneyville to minimal commercial success.

•    In 1975, after signing to the Malaco Records imprint, Moore released her first solo album MISTY BLUE and quickly gained commercial success reaching #10 R&B and #29 Pop on the U.S. album charts. Having found her niche as an exceptional balladeer Moore also gained huge critical acclaim from the industry and her musical peers.

•    MISTY BLUE's success was bolstered by the incredible ballad and title track which was released as a single and became a massive crossover hit peaking at #2 R&B and #3 Pop as well as #5 on the U.K. Pop charts. Follow up single "Funny How Time Slips Away” (a Willie Nelson song) is another beautiful ballad which also reached the R&B top ten at #7 while peaking at a very respectable #38 on the U.K. Pop chart. There are many stand out tracks on this release including a mid-tempo rendition of "Dark End Of The Street” and the bonus track "Here It Is” which was the b-side to Moore’s most successful and enduring song "Misty Blue.”

Tasteful Soul/Bitter Sweet
Field gte not in Database

The Main Ingredient toiled in obscurity for the better part of the '60s before making it big as a sweet, romantic soul outfit with a particular flair for ballads. Paced by the impassioned lead vocals of Cuba Gooding during their prime hit making years, the Ingredient is best remembered for their 1972 classic Everybody Plays the Fool, but released a number of other fine singles, mostly during the first half of the '70s.  The group was formed in Harlem in 1964 as a trio called the Poets, composed of lead singer Donald McPherson, Luther Simmons, Jr. and Panama-born Tony Silvester.

They made their first recordings for Leiber & Stoller's Red Bird label, but soon changed their name to the Insiders and signed with RCA. After a couple of singles, they changed their name once again in 1966, this time permanently to the Main Ingredient.  Tasteful Soul was arguably the Ingredients best album and Bitter Sweet introduced new Main Ingredient member Cuba Gooding. Gooding added power to Tony Silvester's and Luther Simmons' mellow vocal blends. Everybody Plays the Fool paid immediate dividends, going all the way to number three on the Pop charts.

Break Out
The Pointer Sisters were one of the most successful female groups the music industry has seen with 13 top 20 singles and 8 top 40 albums shared between the US and UK pop charts. The 1983 release of Break Out saw the group reach the peak of their commercial success. This was the group's sixth album with producer Richard Perry, with whom they had three big US Pop hits: FIRE (#2, 1979), HE'S SO SHY (#3, 1980) and Slow Hand (#2, 1981). With BREAK OUT, the group took the advice of RUTH POINTER’s son, who wanted them to record a dance album. PERRY sought out associate producers for each track, giving BREAK OUT the electronic feel of 1983 R&B. The album’s lead single I Need You was recorded to reintroduce the group to their African-American fanbase, reaching the R&B Top 20. Second single Automatic reached #2 R&B and #5 Pop, giving the group their biggest hit for three years and becoming massively successful internationally. Jump (For My Love) followed suit, reaching #3 Pop and R&B in the US and #6 in the UK. BBR is very proud to present this 2CD deluxe edition, featuring the 1983 version of the album (massively successful on its release in the UK) for the first time on CD, plus the updated 1984 version and all of the 12" and 7" versions of each track from the album. Released in a deluxe digipak with 24-page booklet, the extensive liner notes feature interviews with Anita Pointer, Ruth Pointer, Richard Perry and several of the album’s associate producers. This edition of Break Out introduces BBR’s new deluxe 2CD re-masters.
