Get Off: Expanded Edition - Foxy

Get Off: Expanded Edition
FOXY, formed in 1976 in Miami, Florida, were a Latin Dance/Disco group who joined the city’s famed T.K. Records stable as their house band after hit makers K.C. & The Sunshine Band left the label. Foxy consisted of Ish "Angel” Ledesma (vocals, guitar), Arnold Pasiero (bass), Ritchie Puente Jr. (percussion), Charlie Murchiano (keyboards), and Joe Galdo (drums) and together they fused a Cuban influenced Latin Dance sound with a strong Euro Disco edge, releasing their debut eponymous album in 1976 with moderate success. However the single ‘Get Off Your Aahh! And Dance’ reached #39 on the U.S. R&B chart in April of that year.

In 1978 Foxy decided to change their sound and direction by incorporating a harder, funkier, rockier edge while still retaining the strong Cuban and Latin influence they had always had. The result was this album on Dash Records, GET OFF, a very strong collection of dance floor tracks fusing the Latin and Funk-Rock influences with a hard hitting fast paced Disco edge.

The title track and only single released from the album gave Foxy their biggest hit as it scorched dance floors across the U.S. ‘Get Off’ reached the coveted #1 spot on the R&B charts, #9 Pop, and #18 Dance. The track was co-written by Carl Driggs who also contributed vocals and percussion to the project. The success of the title track helped the album reach the highs of #3 R&B and #12 Pop. Other very notable tracks are the incredible mid- tempo soul groove ‘Madamoiselle’, the passionate ‘You,’ and the playful ‘Tena’s Song’, the instrumental of which is also featured in this package.

BBR is very proud to bring you GET OFF, completely re-mastered and repackaged complete with extensive liner notes and extended bonus content. GET OFF is a must have for all Latin, Funk, and Disco fans out there!

Duffy
60's blues fusion musician, writer and singer Duffy Power finally achieved a stand alone LP release in 1973 when an eponymous album hit the racks on the GSF label.

Produced by Adrian Millar, as one of several on going projects in a Production deal set up with partner Andrew Loog Oldham, the Duffy Power LP became to date the only purpose recorded album Duffy has had released in his career.

For this fine collection of Duffy originals Millar brought in a stellar cast of musicians, plus backing singers Dana Gillespie, Pam McKenna, Alexis Korner, and Del Newman for string arrangements, to help bring the songs to life.

The album was well received and Millar continued to be a fan of Duffy's songs, offering a second LP. Sessions were begun with a regular backing band called CWT ( see also the RATS (RPM 322) where they backed singer / songwriter David Kubinec). Sadly only three tracks survive today as yet again another Duffy album project remained on the shelf.

As a follow up to the two successful Anthologies of Duffy's 60's recordings RPM is proud to make available again for the first time in 30 years, and for the first time on CD, the 1973 LP Duffy Power, plus the three recordings from the aborted follow up album. The package includes very personal song by song annotation from Duffy, and more unseen photos from Duffy's archive.

Part 3
Grammy award winners, KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND are one of the most recognizable bands of the 70’s, scoring countless hits and gold and platinum records all over the world during the decade with a style of dance friendly R&B that helped to define the Disco era. They also went on to become the first band since the Beatles to score four #1 Pop singles in a 12-month period.
Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch were introduced to each other in 1972 and after hitting it off, began writing together and formed KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND. They put out two singles on TK Records, ‘Blow Your Whistle’, released in September ’73 and ‘Sound Your Funky Horn’ put out in February of ’74. Both saw moderate success, however it was enough for TK Records to want a follow up single and album.
It was during this time while putting demos together that KC and Richard wrote Rock Your Baby, which would later be recorded by George McCrae and released on his debut album of the same name, giving him a #1 hit across the charts and proving that Casey and Finch had what it took to write hit songs. Their second album cemented this notion going triple platinum with a string of top singles to match.
In 1976, KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND would release PART 3 which would go on to become their second triple platinum album. Containing such worldwide hits as (SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE) SHAKE YOUR BOOTY, which reached #1 in both the US Pop and US R&B charts as well as scoring #9 on the US Dance Charts and a top 30 spot in the UK. The follow up, I LIKE TO DO IT also fared well in the US winning itself a top 40 Pop position and climbing all the way to #3 on the US R&B charts and a top 10 Dance spot. I’M YOUR BOOGIE MAN would follow and in typical hit fashion soared to #1 on the US Pop charts, #3 R&B and #9 on the US dance charts while KEEP IT COMIN’ LOVE completed the hit line-up, topping the R&B chart and making the #2 position on the Hot 100.
BBR is thrilled to bring you this wonderfully repackaged and beautifully re-mastered edition of KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND – PART 3 complete with liner notes and added bonus content.
Released in deluxe Super Jewel cases, KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND – PART 3 is a must have for all Soul, Funk, R&B and Disco fans out there!
