Maybe - 2CD - Three Degrees (The)

Maybe - 2CD

The Three Degrees were hugely successful internationally throughout the seventies, particularly in the UK where they enjoyed ten top forty hits including Year Of Decision, Take Good Care Of Yourself and the anthemic ballad When Will I See You Again.

They are also the longest running girl group in the world and MAYBE was their debut album in 1970, it put them on the musical map after a couple of years without major success. After later hits on Philadelphia International Records, Roulette put together an album of mainly unreleased material – the result was SO MUCH LOVE, which is reproduced in it’s entirety on the second disc in this deluxe reissue.

MAYBE, a cover of the Chantels,, was the Three Degrees first hit reaching R&B #4 and Pop #29. It was sampled by J Dilla in 2006. They achieved further R&B hits with I DO TAKE YOU, YOU’RE THE ONE, THERE’S SO MUCH LOVE ALL AROUND ME and TRADE WINDS.

Released in deluxe Super Jewel cases, with 22 bonus tracks, MAYBE is a must for all Soul and Pop fans out there!

The Three Degrees-Expanded Edition
The Three Degrees' Philadelphia International Records debut made quite an impact upon it's release in 1974.

Having been R&B hit makers for years, the group were no strangers to the American Soul Chart but the pairing of the group with Philadelphia's Gamble & Huff took them to an iconic level of appreciation. The top 20 album spawned the now classic UK #1 When Will I See You Again and the top 20 hit Year Of Decision. Also featured was their Philly debut single Dirty Ol' Man which topped the charts in the Netherlands, staving off the threat of Demis Roussos in the process!

The Lover In Me
After being catapulted to fame by the BBC 1 series 'The Big Time' in 1980 and subsequently signing a record deal with EMI, Sheena Easton had undeniable success on both sides of the Atlantic. She scored hit after hit with songs such as ‘9 to 5', ‘Modern Girl and For Your Eyes Only', the title song for the James Bond movie of the same name. In 1981 Sheena won 'Best Female Artist' at the Rock & Pop awards as voted for by the British public, and a Grammy award in the US for 'Best New Artist'. Sheena's run of hits continued throughout the 80's and included the steamy ‘Strut'; The controversial Prince penned track ‘Sugar Walls'; The upbeat pop song ‘Telephone (‘Long Distance Love Affair'); and duets with Kenny Rogers (‘We've Got Tonight') and Prince (‘U Got The Look'). All of which were top ten hits in the US. Released in 1988 The Lover In Me was Sheena's eighth studio album and has slightly harder urban edge, recorded at a time when Sheena was projecting a much sexier image. The new RNB sound of the album was accepted both by critics & the public with open arms, especially in the States where the album quickly turned gold. Big names in the R&B genre like Babyface & L.A Reid took the reigns on producing most of the album. The project also saw Prince (Joey Coco) & Jellybean lend a helping hands. Prince wrote two tracks for the release, he sultry 101 and the funky ‘Cool Love', whilst Jellybean (who had previously remixed some of Madonna's early hits), played drums and produced the danceable album track ‘If It's Meant To Last', A great album, beautifully repackaged, with a diverse range of songs from an artist in the prime of her career. Produced by Baby Face and LA Reid, with contributions from Prince and Jellybean. Our Price: £9.95
