Turn on Your Radio - Change

Turn on Your Radio
Although they were formed in Bologna, Italy in 1979, there is a strong American character to much of CHANGE’s music. Their sound was strongly influenced by CHIC, while early singles featured vocals by LUTHER VANDROSS.  Vocals and additional recording for this album took place in New York City.

1985’s TURN ON YOUR RADIO was the sixth and final CHANGE album, and saw the return of founder JACQUES FRED PETRUS as producer. Single LET’S GO TOGETHER gave the group their final US R&B hit. The album also achieved sizeable international success, with LET’S GO TOGETHER reaching the UK Top 40 and OH WHAT A FEELING also charting in the UK. The album also reached the UK Top 40 and the US R&B chart.

BBR is very proud to present TURN ON YOUR RADIO in full and expanded form, complete with extensive liner notes that feature interviews along with added bonus tracks.

Press:-

"It’s hard to imagine a talent like Tata Vega establishing a foothold in the music industry at any other time than the 1970’s. A 5ft nothing, curvy Puerto Rican vocal powerhouse possessed of a startling unique delivery, she certainly would have had a hard time blending into the background of ‘60s girl groups like The Vandellas and Supremes, and would later struggle in the shoulder-padded MTV dominated ‘80s.”

Deuces High
Len Coley and Roddy Harris formed DELEGATION in Birmingham, during the mid 70’s; later adding Jamaican born Ricky Bailey whose voice was to give them added flair on lead, helping them to compete in the competitive UK Soul Market. The Group worked with one of the UK’s most prolific hit makers of the 70’s and 80’s, Ken Gold, responsible for masterminding The Real Thing as well as writing and producing for artists such as The Nolans, Liquid Gold and Billy Ocean who secured a deal with State Records after which the group released a few UK singles with moderate success.
However, when Oh Honey hit the US charts in 1979 it scored an incredibly impressive top 50 US Pop chart position and smoothly grooved all the way to #6 in the US R&B charts helping the album enter the top 100 on the Billboard Hot 200 and came to rest easily at #8 on the US R&B album chart.
DELEGATION later moved to Ariola Records while changing their line-up with Len Coley being replaced with Bruce Dunbar, a Broadway Musical singer who starred in the musical "Hair" before joining the band, bringing with him his captivating falsetto, so well suited to DELEGATION’s smooth funky sound. Once they had drafted in the arranging talents of keyboard virtuoso, Lynton Naismith, DELEGATION went to work on "Eau De Vie” which would go on to become their highest selling album achieving a Gold Record status in 1980.
In 1982 Delegation released their third album DEUCES HIGH on Ariola Records which spawned the singles ‘If You Were A Song’ and ‘Gonna Bring The House Down’ in the UK. DEUCES HIGH is another high quality set of smooth, funky sounds from one of the UKs foremost acts of the disco era and will thrill and excite the discerning dance music lover in equal measure.
BBR is very proud to bring you DEUCES HIGH, completely re-mastered and repackaged including extensive liner notes featuring an interview with Rick Bailey and extended bonus content.
DEUCES HIGH is a must have for all Disco, Soul and Funk fans out there! Especially those who have picked up BBRs re-masters of Delegations "Eau De Vie” and "Delegation II” and want to complete the group’s early album releases.

Nice And Slow: Expanded Edition
•    Locksley Alphonso Green, aka JESSE GREEN, was a Jamaican singer and multi-instrumentalist who spanned the genres from Reggae through to Disco during his well respected career. Growing up in the St. James parish of the famed island Green became enthralled with the music he heard from the various sound systems in the area, in particular the sound system headed by Count Barrett.

•    During the 60's Green sang vocals with Jamaican band The Pioneers and in the 70's toured internationally with the great Jimmy Cliff as his drummer before embarking on a solo career in 1976.

•    NICE AND SLOW was Green's debut solo album and was released on the EMI record label in 1976 to high acclaim, despite not garnering the commercial success the album deserved. As was the burgeoning trend at the time Green appropriated the fledgling Disco and Soul sounds of the mid 70's and scored a massive club hit with the album’s title track and opener which reached #1 on the U.S. Disco charts and #17 on the U.K. Pop charts. The second single from the album ‘Flip’ followed ‘Nice And Slow’ on to the dance floor peaking at #17 on the Disco chart in 1977. Both tracks have a sultry sweet soul sound on top of a solid bottom end groove.

•    Green's Jamaican roots are still very much in evidence on the album, especially on ‘Flip’ and album track ‘You Came, You Saw, You Conquered’ which both exemplify the singers spirited vocal style. Other highlights are the ballad ‘The Greatest Love’ and the superb ‘You Are The Star,’ a propulsive, jazz influenced groove.

•    BBR is proud to present NICE AND SLOW. This expanded and newly re-mastered edition comes complete with extensive liner notes and added bonus material.

•    This BBR re-master is essential listening for all Disco, Soul and R&B fans out there!

NB: This title is released July 7 and will not be dispatched before this date.
