Hot Together- Expanded Edition
The Pointer Sisters were one of the most successful female groups the music industry has seen with 13 top 20 singles and 8 top 40 albums shared between the US and UK pop charts. In 1986 the Pointer Sisters released Hot Together, their second album on RCA records, and in January of 87, Hot Together peaked at #48 on the US Pop Chart, rose all the way to #39 on the US R&B Charts while gaining a #20 spot in Sweden almost 14 years after the release of their first album. 


HOT TOGETHER featured the production of the legendary Richard Perry who is responsible for producing some of The Pointer Sisters best work. The first single to hit the charts was GOLDMINE, which shot its way into the top 20 on the USR&B charts and made #33 spot on the US Pop Chart. Other notable tracks include SET ME Free, which was used on the opening credits for Whoopi Goldberg’s 80’s hit movie, Jumpin Jack Flash while the title track was chosen to appear on the soundtrack for Space Balls.

The Three Degrees were hugely successful internationally throughout the seventies, particularly in the UK where they enjoyed ten top forty hits including Year Of Decision, Take Good Care Of Yourself and the anthemic ballad When Will I See You Again, all on Philadelphia International Records. New Dimensions was the trio's first album for Ariola Records where they were teamed with hotter than hot producer Giorgio Moroder, who was riding high on his work with Donna Summer.

The top forty album spent thirteen weeks on the UK album chart in 1979 and spun off three hugely successful megahits in the shape of the discofied Giving Up, Giving In and The Runner as well as the top three ballad Woman In Love.

Special Things

In 1980 the Pointer Sisters released Special Things, their third album under the production genius of Richard Perry, launching The Pointer Sisters into the 80s and their most commercially successful period. Special Things featured the gold selling single HE'S SO SHY which returned the group to R&B Top Ten as well as soaring all the way to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning them a Grammy nomination in the process. Also included are the popular Could I Be Dreaming which peaked at #22 on the R&B chart as well as becoming a Club hit alongside the Disco classic We’ve Got The Power.

The album made #19 Soul and #34 Pop in 1980 and features contributions from Burt Bacharach on keyboards alongside Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Motown session musician, James Jamerson on bass whose discography reads as a who‘s who of 60s and 70s soul. THE POINTER SISTERS remain one of the most successful female groups the music industry has seen with 13 top 20 singles and 8 top 40 albums shared between the US and UK pop charts. In 1985 the Pointer Sisters released CONTACT, the first of 3 albums on RCA after their incredibly successful period with Planet Records. CONTACT was the follow up to the triple platinum selling album, Break Out, and was once again produced by Richard Perry. CONTACT quickly attained platinum selling status in the US upon its release. The number one dance hit, DARE ME, written by David Innis and Sam Lorber, achieved #6 R&B and #11 Pop positions and climbed to #17 on the UK Pop charts. More recently the track became the basis for the massive new millennium dance hits Stupidisco (Junior Jack) and Make Your Move (Dave Armstrong). Contact also features the #25 R&B hit ballad FREEDOM and the #15 Dance hit, Twist My Arm written by Andy Goldmark and Bruce Roberts. Put Yourself In My Place/Homeward Looking Angel
In 1989, Tillis, signed with Arista Nashville and released her label debut, Put Yourself in My Place, in 1991. The lead single, Don't Tell Me What to Do, raced into the Top Five, giving Tillis her long-awaited breakthrough. Of the album's five total singles, One of Those Things and Maybe It Was Memphis also made the Top Ten (as did the album). The success of the singles lead to the album being certified "Gold" by the RIAA that year, and reaching No. 10 on the "Top Country Albums" chart and No. 69 on the "Billboard 200" that year. Homeward Looking Angel was Tillis' first album to be certified

"Platinum" by the RIAA. Tillis had two other successful hits from the album that reached the Country top 20, Do You Know Where Your Man Is and Cleopatra, Queen of Denial . While at Arista, Tillis recorded six albums, earning two gold and two platinum in the process. At one point, she was also married to songwriter Bob DiPiero, who co-wrote several of Pam's singles. One of Tillis' compositions, We've Tried Everything Else, was later recorded by Canadian country music artist Michelle Wright in 1994. Tillis also recorded the song and included it on this album.

The long overdue reissue of Billy Ocean's 6th album, 'Love Zone' that was hugely successful internationally following its release in 1986.The album includes the hit singles "Love Zone", "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)", "Bitter Sweet" and the number 1 smash "When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going" - the theme to the 1985 Hollywood smash, 'The Jewel Of The Nile'. He adopted the stage name of Billy Ocean from the Ocean Estate in East London. He released his first album 'Billy Ocean' in 1976 on GTO Records. This was to be the start of a long and successful career that still continues to this day. His popularity is highlighted by his appearance at the JFK Stadium for U.S. leg of Live Aid in 1985. In February 1986, Ocean's video of "When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going" was banned by the BBC due to the tight restrictions involving use of non-union members, and the video including appearances by Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito miming the backing vocals.Billy Ocean continues to perform live on a regular basis with dates booked in July in Ipswich (09/07), Holmfirth (21/07), Norwich (23/07) and appearances at the two 80's Festivals, Rewind Scotland (30/07) and Rewind Henley-on-Thames (20/08).
