SWITCH were a US funk band that started out in Ohio with the name, First Class. Discovered by Jermaine Jackson, the original line up included Phillip Ingram, Bobby and Tommy DeBarge, Greg Williams, Eddie Fluellan and Jody Sims. Switch are Probably best known for their stint on Gordy Records where they produced 3 top ten hits that included 1978’s There’ll Never Be Another, 1979’s I Call Your Name and Love Over and Over Again released in 1980.
In 1980, Philip Ingram, brother of James Ingram, left the group to pursue a solo career and later formed the Electronic Funk band Deco with Attala Zane Giles, and released and album called Fresh Idea on Qwest Records in 1983. Bobby and Tommy DeBarge also left the group to join the family group, De Barge who were one of the few groups that enjoyed success on Motown during the 1980’s. Keyboardist, Attala Zane Giles, and percussion/vocalists, Renard Gallo and Gonzales Ozen. By 1984 Switch had signed with Total Experience Records and set about releasing Am I Still Your Boyfriend which includes the soulful UK hit, Keeping Secrets the smooth, mid-tempo title track and the sweet love ballad, I’m So Satisfied BBR is proud to present the first ever remaster of Switch’s 1984 album, Am I Still Your Boyfriend, complete with extensive liner notes featuring interviews with band members and bonus tracks.
