Piero's Pleasure - The Touch Of Piero Umiliani - Piero Umiliani

Piero's Pleasure - The Touch Of Piero Umiliani
Italian soundtrack circles, the name Piero Umiliani is spoken with the same reverence as his world famous contemporary Ennio Morricone Umiliani's most successful composition, the world-renowned, 'Mah Na Mah Na' is included followed by over seventy extraordinary minutes of characteristically sensual, elegant music from his film scores of the late sixties-early seventies For many Umiliani is the definitive lounge-core artist with particular appeal in Japan where a great many exclusive editions have been released. This is the sound of Rome in the sixties.

I Got The Melody (Expanded Edition)
ODYSSEY started life as The Lopez Singers, a female vocal group from Connecticut, in 1968. The original line up was the three Lopez sisters Carmen, Lillian and Louise, however Carmen left soon after and was replaced by Filipino singer and bassist Tony Reynolds. It was this line-up which went on to have worldwide success with the hit single "Native New Yorker” in 1977, taken from their debut self-titled LP "Odyssey," which was the first of their albums to be re-issued by BBR. In 1978 Reynolds was replaced by Billy McEachern and gave the group a settled line up which was a springboard for their continued success on both sides of the Atlantic.

I GOT THE MELODY (R&B #62/Pop #175/UK #29) was the groups fourth LP, released in 1981 and followed on from 1980's "Hang Together” and its predecessor, 1978's "Hollywood Party Tonight,” which is also released by BBR this month.  By this point Odyssey had gained a strong following in the UK due to the success of singles ‘Use It Up And Wear It Out,’ ‘If You're Looking For A Way Out’ and ‘Hang Together’ from the album of the same name, which they capitalized on with the release of I GOT THE MELODY.

The first single to be released from I GOT THE MELODY was the classic R&B track ‘Going Back To My Roots’ penned by legendary Motown songwriter Lamont Dozier.  ‘Going back...’ climbed to #68 R&B and #58 Disco in the US, and secured the groups popularity in the UK where it reached #4 on the singles chart. ‘Going Back...’ is featured  in a medley on the album itself called ‘Roots Suite,’ sandwiched by ‘Ajomora’ and ‘Baba Awa,’ the latter of which being another of the strongest tracks in this set and is featured on this release in its single version along with ‘Going Back...’.  ‘It Will Be Alright’ was the second single to be released and again struck a chord in the UK where e it reached #43 in the singles chart.

BBR is very proud to bring you the first ever CD release anywhere in the world of I GOT THE MELODY, completely remastered and repackaged complete with extensive liner notes, interviews and bonus content. I GOT THE MELODY is an essential purchase for all R&B, Soul, Disco and Pop fans out there!

Chewing The Fat: Deluxe Edition
•    Back in early 80s Soho, Blue Rondo A La Turk defined ‘cool’. Singer/writer Chris Sullivan, guitarist Mark Reilly and vocalist Christos Tolera (with help from myriad talented personnel) married Latin jazz, R&B, Cuban and urban soul with a strong pop sensibility (witty lyrics, catchy melodies).

•    The band emerged from the heart of London’s clubland and scored with singles such as the Top 40 hit ‘Me And Mr. Sanchez’ and the irrepressible ‘Klacto Vee Sedstein’, epitomising a glamourous, multi-cultural New Pop. By the time of debut album Chewing The Fat in 1982, they were the darlings of new style magazines like The Face and i-D. ‘Me and Mr. Sanchez’ went on to be No. 1 in Brazil and was the theme tune for the 1982 World Cup!

•    After Chewing The Fat, the team went their separate ways. While Mark Reilly and others founded Matt Bianco, a new line-up with shortened name Blue Rondo delivered a promising second album Bees Knees And Chicken Elbows before bowing out.

•    Some three decades on, Chewing The Fat makes its debut on CD, overseen by the band. For this deluxe two-CD edition, the band commissioned a flurry of contemporary remixes, which now join original non-album tracks to present a re-imagining of Blue Rondo’s music for the 21st Century. These new remixes comprise Disc 2. Among those who’ve given the original Blue Rondo recordings a fresh, modern twist are such legends as Youth and Andy Weatherall.

•    A single will be released from Chewing The Fat, coupling ‘Klactpolkastein’ with ‘417-FLU’ and the Andy Weatherall mix ‘Klactofilthedstein’.

This product is released June 16 2014 and will not be dispatched before this date.
