Dear Hawkfan,

It’s been some time since we launched Atomhenge, the home of the HAWKWIND catalogue between 1976 and 1997. The response to our releases to date has been amazing and it makes all of the attention we give to our releases truly worthwhile. I’d like to thank Ben Wiseman at The Audio Archiving Company in London for his excellent mastering work on these releases, along with Phil Smee whose CD designs really make the Atomhenge reissues complete. I would also like to thank Brian Tawn and Alasdair Moodie for their invaluable contribution to these releases.

With the imminent releases of “LOVE IN SPACE” and “THE CHRONICLE OF THE BLACK SWORD” we have added to our catalogue nicely, but the real surprise is the album “HAWKLORDS LIVE ‘78”. This album comprises a set recorded at Brunel University in November 1978 on the HAWKLORDS tour and has been newly mixed from the original 16-track location master tapes. The album includes four tracks previously unissued and is a vast sonic improvement of the previously released material taken from this concert. The concert reveals a performance by ROBERT CALVERT that was second to none, particularly on the track “Sonic Attack”.

Looking to the future, in July ATOMHENGE will be reissuing the album “FRESH BLOOD” by STEVE SWINDELLS. Recorded in 1980 after his departure from HAWKLORDS, the album includes Steve’s version of the mighty “SHOT DOWN IN THE NIGHT” and features contributions from HUW LLOYD LANGTON, SIMON KING and NIC POTTER (formerly with VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR). This Atomhenge reissue marks the album’s debut on CD.

Fans should also note the HAWKWIND 40th Anniversary concerts at the Porchester Hall in August and should check out www.hawkwind.com for details of the band’s current activities and planned concerts this year. We are still delving through the archives to finalise our future HAWKWIND releases in 2009 and 2010 and will update you soon with more information.
