Ocky Milk
ANALOG012CD

Legendary singer/songwriter Momus returns with his brand new album ‘Ocky Milk’ (ANALOG012CD).

Ocky now takes its place as the third record in what you could call Momus' Berlin Trilogy, a sequence of albums that began with 2003's vaudeville Modernist "Oskar Tennis Champion" and contined with 2005's "Otto Spooky" (a sort of Shinto-inspired World Music).

"I'm planning my next album, The Friendly Album," Momus wrote on his blog Click Opera back in March 2005. "And I want to make something as static, as friendly, as consensual, as self-effacing, as Japan itself. It will be a feminine record and a friendly record. It will -- it should -- contain the deep sensuality of Renaissance lute music, or bossa nova. You should be able to put it on and just let it hover in the background all the way through, structuring your contentment in a self-effacing, classical, cool and elegant way. I don't know if I'm capable of making music that serene and sensual, but I want to try.

This month we are proud to present a brand new album from the irrepressible Momus – one of the UK’s most original independent songwriters.

Nick Currie aka Momus has been a very successful songwriter for many years and has been associated with Cherry Red since 1986, and he currently runs our very own Analog Baroque Records.

Momus is currently planning some live dates in February/March to support the album – keep your eye on the website for more information.

“Momus is a master at confusing, confounding and delighting the listener with his arrogant, eccentric, witty and insanely eclectic approach to music.” Uncut

What if computers finally began getting more Africa in them? What if folk artists started emerging who sounded more post-modern than Cornelius or Pole? What would Click Folk or Glitch Folk sound like? What would Alan Lomax have said if, in 1965, the Newport Folk Festival had been invaded by boffins and geeks playing modular Moogs? What if you could hear, today, the Country Music of the year 2049? What about the Japanese country music of 2049? What would that sound like? What if electronics had appeared in 18th Century Scotland just at the moment of the Highland Clearances? How many mountains can you fit on a Minidisc? It's what Raymond Scott, Bruce Haack or Gary Numan might have sounded like if they'd jammed their way through the back catalogue of Steeleye Span. It's Shakespeare rendered in Flash 5 by a superlucid hyperactive Japanese geek. It's those prolific medieval songwriters Trad. and Anon. finding the missing link between unicorns and Unix. It's preposterous, provocative and prescient

Momus : Stars Forever
Stars Forever
ANALOG002CD

A brand new album from British cult favourite and pop experimentalist Momus. This is a unique album. The story behind it goes back to Momus' "Little Red Songbook" album which contained a track about one of the pioneers of electronic music. The composer objected to the song and the result was a hefty legal fee for Momus' US label. To pay off the debt Momus decided to sell musical portraits for $1000 a song. The first 30 people whose cheques cleared became the subjects of songs on "Stars Forever".
