Restless Night : The Complete Pop-Psych Sessions 1967-71
Released on 06/09/2010. Octopus's sole 1969 long-player Restless Night is something of a treasure among '60s Brit-psych fans due to its mixture of proto-progressive riffs, accomplished pop tunes and sparkling Beatlesque flourishes. The band evolved out of the thriving Hertfordshire beat scene that also gave us The Zombies, The Gods and those other cult pop-psych heroes Forever Amber. Octopus' music was coloured by the use of keyboards and layered vocal harmonies in much the same way. As The Cortinas they enjoyed several years of local success which culminated in the 1968 CBS  single Phoebe's Flower Shop . The single was pure pop confectionery and betrayed little of the band's tight, melodic brand of rock. By the time they'd been signed to Larry Page's Penny Farthing label in 1969, their sound had expanded to encompass the burgenoning progressive scene, the dawn of the solo troubadour and the omnipresent influence of The Beatles, illustrated perfectly by their live sets of the period which included songs by Yes, Neil Young, Cat Stevens and even note-for-note renditions of "I Am The Walrus" and "Baby, You're A Rich Man"!

The first single and album opener The River is a tough dancefloor groover complete with lysergic fuzz guitar and has appeared on several compilations while the album cover art is an eye-opening classic of the "so bad it's good" school. Much to the band's horror, they discovered that Page had released a bastardised version of the album which omitted two of the original tracks and added the b-side of the single. Previous re-issues of the album have, not surprisingly, stuck to the erroneous tracklist but here at Rev-Ola we always strive to give you more. And you love it don't you, you little beauties?

I Ran - The Best Of
One of the most infamous 80's bands to burst out from synth-heavy and ruthlessly stylish New Romantic movement into the New Wave scene, A Flock Of Seagulls come to Anagram with "I Ran (The Best Of)" (CDMGRAM 181). A Flock Of Seagulls enjoyed chart success all over the world, especially in the USA where their haircuts have became a singular expression of 80's excess and style. This hits collection, featuring singer Mike Score's newly recorded, true to the original versions of The Seagull's best loved songs, including "I Ran", "Space Age Love Song", "Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You) and "Nightmare", is guaranteed to have you banging on your air synth while it transports you back to the 80's.

Wazzed 'N' Blasted
Anagram are proud to exhume yet another forgotten gem from the vault of Link Records, The Batfinks 'Wazzed 'N' Blasted'. Noteworthy Chuck Flintstone, of The Frantic Flintstones began a 'Chuck Flintstone Presents' series from Link Records when Psychobilly was at it peak in the mid to late eighties. In both the UK and mainland Europe there was a tidal wave of new bands, and this division became a haven for those wanted to become part of the warped scene. The fusion of Rockabilly and Punk pricked the ears of a young generation of Psychos many whom started a band. Sadly though the scene slowly grew smaller and many of these bands (as rocking as they were) were forgotten, quite tragic considering that the thirst for young psycho blood is once again very apparent. The Bat-Finks is a prime example of one of these bands. Thank goodness for the kind people at Anagram, who have taken up the job of digging up this treasure of a Psychobilly nature and putting it on CD for your good self. We can also be thankful, that the Batfinks left a legacy in the form of an album and some live recordings. Trash-a-billy played full throttle, from some youngsters who have been drinking the same blood tainted water as Demented Are Go. Full of excellent tracks this CD will please either those who were their first time round or the new generation of psychos, current ripping up the floor. Unfortunately little else is known about the Batfinks and all exhaustive efforts to track them down have failed miserably! In fact the only info that turned up was a flyer for an all-dayer in 1989 and a short review in a fanzine! This can have an advantage though as it lets the insane music speak for itself! Insane it is, with many a stomping tune. Can you imagine Demented Are Go playing 'What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor' and getting away it? Well The Batfinks do!

The Klub Foot was a legendary venue which became the centre of the whole Psychobilly scene These recordings are not only never-before-released, but they are GREAT quality.
